Cheers for that
It doesn't bother me in the slightest. Of course he's getting paid he's a contractor. People forget that these days that is basically what players are - contractors. There is little or no 'relationship' any more with the fans. Fans (of all clubs) slag players on an hourly basis through the various media open to them and players are essentially cut off and not really that bothered with fans. They do the community stuff - Longy was brilliant with my lad when he did a summer camp. Chatted to him for ages and made him feel really important. That's part of their deal. But ATEOTD if the club agreed Long didn't have to be there last night then so be it. Blame the club if it bothers you not Long.
The halcyon days of fans carrying players and coaches on their shoulders on the pitch and having a pint in the club bar with them after the game are long gone. It was probably better then than now but that's the way it is. Maybe a sustained period of success would improve things, but as things stand now neither players or fans are exactly falling over each other to be bosom buddies.

Oh I agree, if FC said he wasn't required to attend then fair enough, in fact, maybe AP just told him to get in his car and keep driving when we knew he woudn't play again, I don't think he's been the "positive influcence" that so many expected him to be.

I do. He should have been told to be there and we should have been getting something in return for our money or we should have been told the club have told him to stay away/he can't make because...etc

| Daft post. Long and Gleeson arn't going to travel well over 100 miles down the motorway to do a lap of honour and don't blame them. They are in the past. Good luck to them
Agar would have just got abuse - right call on his part. Although, he did actually enter the pitch at the end of the game, just didn't do the lap of honour.
Was great to be able to give Fitz a send off.

| Agar doing a lap of honor LMFAO
He did the right thing not doing that, for the first time in years he has my respect for taking that decision.

How does that work though?? Do the club/s have some sort of personal injury policy for players that are injuried for long periods/ career ending injuries?? Does anyone know how that works ?? i take it it cant count on the salary capping system if the injury finishes your career and the club needs to pay up his contract. Were doe the money come from ? How will it work regards Gleeson since he's got a contract till the end of next season ?

| agar has been kicked from pillar to post on here for long enough and people are talking about him not doing a lap of honour, get a grip,i reckon he thought fu-k that for a game of soldiers, tbh hes best away from here.
Time to move on now and just wait for the announcement of our new coach and a few more signings, plus the players who are leaving.

Pathetic excuse. A few boo boys? There were those of us who gave him every opportunity to get things right and wanted him to succeed. He's failed, he's leaving, everyone's happy now. I hope he picked his toys up off the floor before he left. No class, good riddance.

| Longy's lost loads of respect unless there were very good reasons not to be there.
Poor show from him.

It makes me laugh how it bothers some folk, it really does.'"
Agree 100% on all points.
Some people really do seem to go looking for reasons to be annoyed.

I am sure the respect he gets from Saints fans will more than make up for it.
