Don't be too harsh on him. It's been an another difficult season for the Robins and the boy needs some closure. Part of the healing process.
Five year plan still on track.

Don’t forget they once took a short kick off and instantly became the most innovative rugby league side ever.
Just missed out on honours this season, but Rovers should win the lot next season!

At fullback though he has more space to work with and way more freedom than just standing on the right side of the pitch when at 6 given the way we play with split halfbacks.
Its not a knock on Shaul but he just doesn't have the skill set to play fullback in our current attacking structure.

Brilliant analogy of why Shaul, is not suited to our style of play.
He is more suited to the 80/90's, whereby the Ball playing 13 would create gaps in the middle, and his support play would be more effective.
This is one of the reasons,I feel we need a coach from outside Hull.
For mine, he was an automatic pick, If the coach is from Hull, sometimes the team structure, should take precedence ahead of any player's birthplace.

No point of selecting a FB, who can't create nor pass.

| Wigan exposed Connor’s lack of speed.
Wellens was slow but he had time to develop in that position. He also played in an exceptional team.

When did Wigan expose Connors lack of speed?

I'd personally play Shaul on the wing..
It's no coincidence, that our attack looks more potent, when we have a FB, who can create more opportunities for the centres and wingers .

I'm not saying he is anywhere near the level of him but the way Melbourne use Ryan Papenhuyzen should be the blueprint of how to use Shaul if we are sticking with him at 1 because their skillset is so similar.

I’d certainly look at a different role for Shaul.
I’d keep Jake at Full Back and move Shaul up to develop as a Hooker.
His pace would be effective, firstly scooting from the PTB and also having him closer to the off loads to make breaks.
We don’t exploit Jamie enough to back up the forwards. He should be following the breaks made by the forwards, just like we had with Shaun Briscoe, Horne, Schofield and Steve Evans used to do. We have forwards now who are looking to off load and moving Jamie upfield would have him closer to finish those opportunities.

I'm not sure having a hooker who cant pass or tackle is a great idea.
