| Quote: Jake the Peg "not just about league places though is it. You could get another teanm sorting issues out and coming higher like we are hoping to.
Either way it's a shambles. No one in their right mind expected to see waky and cas get grade A's'"
Hudds, Salford, Bradford and Toulouse can't quickly or easily do anything with their stadiums though. They are either top notch or err a big hole in the ground that can't easily be fixed.
Not saying we can completely relax, we need to get the performances up and therefore grow the crowds and income...but chances of 3 teams all getting better on the field while at the same time smashing it off the field seems unlikely to me right now.

| Quote: Jake the Peg "fair enough. I'd not taken too much notice but the whole system seems a POS. When are they regrading? It could be that a team thinks they're safe sat in 6th place then suddenly be relegated as someone else has got a higher grading than them'"
Or Salford win next years super league title then are relegated
What a load of nonsense this IMG is
What happens if suddenly we have 15 teams with grade A
Sorry but for me its what happens on the field that counts.
Bottom club in S/l is relegated top club in the Championship is promoted
Then we have the ridiculous Championship play off where a team runs away with the league title then are beaten in the playoff so are not promoted.
If they want to have a Championship play off then it only works if we have 14 teams in S/L with a two up two down system where the winners of the Championship are automatically promoted and 2 to 4 including the second bottom of S/L play off for the second S/L spot so that the S/L club get a chance to stay in S/L and the Championship clubs a chance of promotion

| Feels to me like someone tipped Bradford bulls off about the proposed return to promotion and relegation next year, they seem to be doing a lot of recruitment ahead of next season

| The way I read it is that Grade A clubs are guaranteed in SL. If a grade B club finished 12th and a grade B club won the championship then that’d be the promotion and relegation.
So you could only possibly be relegated if you were a grade B club and finished 12th.

Yes, if the Championship club had higher points.

I get the impression Bradford held back last season as Wakefield were always going to be Champions. Wakey gained one off IMG points for winning the Championship Final and 1895 Cup (0.65?). I think Bradford will be eyeing those extra points this season.
Likewise, next year Wakey will lose those points from their score and probably drop to a Grade B. They may have walked the Championship, but I think they will struggle to get above 11th in SL next season

The latest rumoured talks I read didn’t mention points, it was just grade B for grade B.

That's the trouble with a lot of you Leeds fans ,you will not give credit to any club that turns it self round .Just for the record we own our ground .Is it true that the Stand that is joined to the Cricket Ground is loaned out to you as you do not want it to show on your balance sheet how much you are in det .Your Hospitality cost 240 pound a match .It is only 340 pounds at Wembley and that includes a breakfast .Just be thankful you are were you are ,and stop knocking Clubs that are trying to get better .Just be thankful and keep living with the tag lucky Leeds

As things stand, promotion and relegation is currently points based. Hence Wakefield coming up and London going down this season. The fact that it happens to be the team that finished 12th in Super League and the team that finished 1st in the Championship is coincidental. London were always destined to be heading back to the Championship next season because of the provisional grading they were given last year. There was just too much catching up to do.
What's now under consideration is a proposal that has been motioned by Batley that will be getting discussed by clubs at a meeting at the beginning of December that guarantees that the winner of the Championship gets promoted to Super League regardless of their points. The only criteria that club has to meet is that they have a Grade B licence. The proposal also says that in terms of relegation, the lowest ranked Grade B Super League club would be relegated with Grade A clubs exempt from relegation. "Lowest ranked" seems to be up for debate as to whether it means if it's the Grade B team that has the fewest grading points or the Grade B team that finishes the lowest in the league. If all Super League clubs eventually achieve Grade A, Super League would be expanded to include the Championship winner.
So we have this weird scenario under this proposal that Doncaster, currently the lowest ranked Grade B club in the Championship on 7.52 points, can guarantee themselves a place in Super League in 2026 if they win the Championship Grand Final. Their points score wouldn't matter compared to other Championship clubs, they would be in Super League as a reward for winning the competition. Meanwhile, Salford could potentially find themselves relegated despite having 6.45 points more than Doncaster because they are currently the lowest ranked Grade B team on points in the Super League. But if it's based on league position, you have the potential (although highly unlikely) scenario that the three Grade B clubs of Super League (FC, Huddersfield and Salford) could finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively and the 3rd place team would be relegated in favour of Doncaster because the other nine clubs are Grade A and exempt from relegation.
As I said on a previous post, it either has to be straight up promotion and relegation or the grading system. Not some weird hybrid of the two.

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.

This is rugby league all over, throughout the history of the game. The ability of the sport to turn a simple concept into a minefield never ceases to amaze!
Like you say RR, it's either the 12 clubs with the highest IMG grading or we go back to simple straight up straight down based solely on league performance/position and not some Frankenstein hybrid of the two.
If this proposal is carried not only will it add several layers of confusion to a sport already unfathomable to outsiders, but it will undoubtedly alienate the sports loyal hardcore support.
For what it's worth, I think the proposal will be rejected, chiefly by the SL clubs as it opens up to many of the nightmare scenarios such as the one you described above.
