I'd like to see the club go back to targeting one other game that isn't a derby to get a good crowd. One thing that was better in the Kath era than Pearson's era was games against Bradford and Leeds felt like big events, we had crowds of 16-19k for these games 20 or so years ago. The club would give almost daily '12k seats sold' type comms and hype it up. The then new stadium was more of an attraction to away fans than it is now after they've all been many times though.

Think you will find the Turk has lost his love for the club since his appointment as vice chair at Fenerbahce.
I doubt any of the proposed plans will go ahead especially as now the club are struggling and likely to ditch their latest coach before too long.
He doesnt have the money in any case to develop the plans and its more likely if relegation becomes a real possibility he will try to sell the club
If that plays out it becomes a real opportunity for Pearson and his new pals to move into football and put to bed all this new stadium nonsense

Am I getting carried away in thinking this combination of new team, new. coach and backroom staff and renewed optimism around the club can make us into a top half of the table team this year?

Yes, I think you are, still think we last some quality for a top 6. You never know, but I don't see it.

Think the new combination is a huge step in the right direction of getting us back to where we want to be. Nigel Wood is right in what he said to Thirkill. The untapped potential is massive.

Dread to think of the mood of the fanbase without these changes.

Also think Myler will be a real asset. We’ve needed someone to be bullish about the club for years, and to fight our corner. Having his father in law as an owner will make it even more personal.

Thought it was good that the mood of the fans was that eighth is a realistic place to finish next year. Must be reassuring for the new owners to have a passionate, yet realistic, fanbase.

Think Thirkill was spot on, even if we do everything right that we can control the competition to finish 8th or above is massive, it means we have to get our house in order and hope someone takes their eye off the ball or has bad luck with injuries etc. Even Huddersfield who we are now expected to finish above by many now still have some quality players, Salford every year punch well above their weight and Leigh, Leeds and Catalan potentially have trophy winning sides on their day. Wigan, Rovers and St’s will be way above the rest.

Optimism doesnt suddenly catapult the team into a top 6 or 8 position.
The squad has been strengthened and experience added but is still poor quality,coupled with ageing players and a distinct lack of pace.
I think with Cartwrights coaching adding fitness and discipline we will keep out of the bottom two but all teams in S/L have been strengthened and i dont see a really weak team there at all.
Even Wakefield will surprise a few
