Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

| Back injury....
Quote: .'" :2duh1mw6] "“Scott could have played on for a few weeks, but he’s not 100% so there is no point in making his injury worse and then loose him for the full year. We’ve taken the decision to get him treated now and back to full fitness as soon as possible for the remainder of the season.
“Masi’s had a knock on his shoulder in a tackle which did a bit of damage and playing him is not worth the risk. He’s in rehab and should be available later this month".'"

| Frustrating to restart without Taylor but I suspect all teams will pick up injuries in the first few rounds.
Hopefully Bienek and Brown will get a chance.

Played 46 games or so games in 2018/19, so doing think injuries are a big problem.
Agreed with you and other posters that Brown should be above him and Fash, these two wont be everything more than steady SL props (You do need these type of players to balance the cap) but Brown could be a superstar, I'll be disappointed if he doesn't at least play half the games this season, given the chance I think he will stand out and be a horse choice prop next season.

Brown definitely in Last's thinking. Not sure where we stand contract wise with Leigh on Bienek and Cameron Scott in terms of loan doesn't sound straightforward. Scott will be down the pecking order for now but I do think he has a lot of potential.

I'd say that's about right for a player of his standard, and age you cant have a team of superstars and he is a decent squad player, remember he started playing RL a lot later than most players his age.
No other players will be released, particularly those in contract, who do you replace them with, market will be terrible for next year.

| I'd replace him with someone like Brown who will be available more, more likely to challenge for a starting spot thus creating competition and who has a lot more assertiveness than Matongo, who lets not kid ourselfs doesn't go looking for work when he does play.
It's the settling for average that makes us inconsistent
We need an ever evolving squad improvement mentality.

What do you mean replace him with someone like Brown, if you mean Beiwn, how can he replace him when they are both in the squad together.
I've already highlighted than Masi has a pretty good injury record, certainly better than Savelio, shall we release him aswell.
So who replaces Masi next season, do we have another young prop ready? We are already losing Ratu, Kelly and probably Jones, I'm not sure we can afford to just release a contracted (cheap) player without a replacement.
Brown would be ahead Masi and Fash for certain though.
I also think the likes of Masi and Fash who have shown potential deserve a chance under the new coaching team.

| Il simplify it
When Masi is fit he tends to be in the matchday squad over Brown, I've rarely seen them both named on the bench, if they have been I take it back, but you'd have to show me some stats to back it up. So it would be Brown replacing Matongo no need for another signing as you've put I t, that scenario doesn't even come into the equation. Props would be Taylor, Satae, Bowden, Brown, Savelio/Sao (if needed) Fash, and I'm sure another season on we d have more prospects coming through to supplement them
I'm saying I'd now move Brown above Masi for squad selection, as I've said I don't think Masi is assertive Enough, the stats back that up he has very low carry numbers when he does play.
I also don't think 10 games per season is the sign of a youngish prop who's pulling up trees. When you look at Partington and Bynre for example, there's no comparison.
Brown can be the type of player you've described rather than Masi as Brown offers more and in my eyes has the potential to be a prop who plays 15-20 games a season rather than an average of 10. And 10 not very busy games at that.
As for Savelio when he does play he looks brilliant. He produces the goods, he's also been at the club a lot shorter period than Matongo and has far more Ability, I agree he needs to be on the pitch more, so I'd give him the rest of this season to prove he can keep clear of injurys, if he's constantly injured again , he's another I'd release, as we seem to stockpile players who are injured way too much.
That's my opinion. I stand by it.

| Pearson looking at possibly a couple of new signings January/February, that's probably it.
He doesn't see it as right to be asking the current squad to take a pay cut and bringing in new players now.

Pretty much on the money for me that. Masi has all the physical attributes to be a good prop in the game but what seems to be lacking is desire/aggression. On performances and promise I think there's little to argue that Brown deserves to be given the opportunity ahead of Masi.

| It’s a clean slate, so some players who were deemed to be underperforming previously might kick on under a new coach, who maybe asks them to do different things, or coaches them in a different way.
Everyone is going to get a chance to stake a claim.
Personally I’m looking forward to seeing a fully fit Savelio, and a hungry Cator given a chance.
