| Despite last night's showing, I think Hull F.C is on the up.
That being said I wrote to Adam Pearson following our slaughter in the play-offs against Huddersfield in Sept, 2013. I've included an extract I wrote to him and still believe this is where Hull's real problem is:
"......one suggestion is to assess player performance in the context of how many 'good' games they have in a season. My view is that we are lacking players who can play consistently well week in, week out. We should be developing a squad where the stats prove that all players are putting in 'good' performances on a ratio of 1:3 rather than what I believe could be 1:6 or worse. On a 1:3 ratio that would mean any player would play 9 good games out of the whole Super League season: is that too much to ask of a professional? Apply that across a squad of 17 players and coaching team and this is where I think improvement must be made and where we reduce the number of overall losses, draws, and debacles such as last night."
How this inconsistency is 'coached out,' I don't know but too many players don't seem to know how to either play their way out of a corner or put their xollocxx on the line and fight their way out.

Did you get a reply?
I like the "back to basics" approach of your player analysis. Play better, and do it more often. Easy isn't it? Are you in consultancy?

Your club will never achieve anything if you are only expecting them to play one good match in three. Out of a squad of 17, on average, only just over 5 players would be having a good match. I doubt you would win many matches with this scenario.

Well you would know, having watched your lot fail to achieve in god knows how many years.

If you're expecting people to fork out the money to get into the game & then walk out as soon as it's kicked off then you're going to be sorely disappointed.

| Quote: Mr. Zucchini Head " We are 4 games in, and as bad as we were last night there are clearly worse teams in this league than us. Wakefield shipped nearly 60 points at Widnes last week ffs.
We need to stop looking for ridiculous excuses every week, admit that appointing Radford was a mistake and bring in someone who can give us a clear plan of where we want to go. The club Hull idea is fine, but we are building it on sand.'"
Hudd's apart, you have yet to prove there are worse teams than yours, Wakefield is everybody's favourite to go down so for you to compare yourself with them in a desperate attempt to defend your teams poor start is laughable, that being so even IF you finish three places higher in the league than them, and there's no guarantee you will, you'll still be mixing it with the likes of Batley, disappointing for a club who along with their fans' had high expectations. I suppose the best way for you to compare yourself against Wakey if you must, is wait till you have played Widnes at their place as well.

That's the way. Why bring KR into it when the issue under discussion was the expectations of one of your supporters of your players. Is that the height you can reach with your contribution?

Where have I tried to defend our start. We played okay against a Huddersfield team who played very poorly. We tried hard against Warrington but offered little attacking threat. We gave up at half time against Leeds and never even started against Salford. It's been a very poor start.
I'm just responding to some fans who are spitting their dummies out and saying the season is over after 4 games. Afterall, looking at the fixtures this weekend, we could still easily be in the 8 at the end of the round. There's a long way to go yet. We might not win again all season and Batley might hump us 60-0, who knows? All I know is nothing is decided after 4 games.
To listen to some fans you'd think we're the only team ever to get a good hiding. The Wakefield result, Salford's loss to Saints etc. They show that we are not alone.

You're right in that just as Huddersfield and Wire were no reason to get carried away, Salford and Leeds are no reason to think we are in for a bad season.
We undoubtedly have a tough start and will hopefully start winning soon but its hard to see us getting much out of our next two games.

I don't expect anything at Wigan but the French often travel poorly so I wouldn't be writing that one off yet. If we can be 2 from 6 with a couple of good performances we can go into what is a nice run of winnable games with a bit of confidence, but if you are out of form they start to look a lot less winnable.
This really is Radfords last chance for me though. He has to start showing a bit of leadership to get us out of this slump. Top 8 is still well within our reach, but we've got to start stringing some performances together.

When speaking with a Rovers' supporter its not the height of the contribution but the depths we have to reach in order for you to understand.
