That's down to coaching though. Imo the off field set up and support plus the squad are good enough to be competing at the top of sl.

| For me over the years we have had great players at this club, some good teams and some poor teams. However the 2020 squad Pearson has provided us is in all my 40 years watching the best groups/collective as a squad of players we have ever had. If you also add in to the fact that Pearson has invested in the training facilities and development side of the club too we are in the best place we have ever been under any owner. Adam Pearson can not be questioned on these points however the coaching side is where things can rightly be questioned as we have everything in pls e other than a coach that can take us to the next level in terms of consistency at the top level.
He has had 7 years and a lot of backing and we are still really no further on and continuing in the same hit and miss manor.
We have had poorer teams in the past but the teams attitude desire and work ethic couldn’t be questioned as they gave their all so even losing we couldn’t ask for more. Today’s team should be delivering more and feel it’s down to the coaching.

A well measured and thought through post with which I would agree. On the Pearson out stuff, I'll just say that should he at some point, walk away or the fans drive him out, then as a Club we'll have had it. Who the hell would buy or even take over a club that is losing money, whose main source of income is based on a TV franchise that is currently looking vulnerable and up for review in 2021, who perhaps faces a period when there are no games and yet wages etc to pay and one that doesn't even own their own stadium as back up collateral? I'm just glad we have him!!

| Well said Wilf .
No Pearson, no Hull FC , simple as that !
Who would want to take the Club off him ?
There is no money to be made in RL.
Clubs are heavily reliant on the Sky money, which could end , or decrease after 2021 .

| It seems, Seb, as ever, is in a minority.
As has been said, IF Pearson walks, Hull FC fold, he wont walk, he has invested way too much.
fortunately

Exactly, he’s to much invested to just walk away, I don’t think it’s as simple as just walking away if he don’t like it anymore. Pearson’s been great for Hull, I feel his only mistake is his unshakable loyalty to radford, certainly having that agar feeling for me

I agree with that
Dont get the negativity towards Adam Pearson
As you say though he has been too loyal to Radford despite some horrific performances and results over the last two seasons.
Some will point to injuries but Peter Gentle was sacked despite having fourteen players unavailable at one stage due to injury.

Im starting to think Pearson is a slightly better version of Kath Hetherington - both have won silverware - both utterly cluless at times- both knew/know how to [imilk the fans[/i
How longs Pearson been here - 8, 9, 10 years - we look as far away from being a grand final winning side than when he first arrived'"
not much else needs typing....

You sound a little less supportive here mind

| Quote: Dave K. "If Hetheringon etc stayed, we would have been close to going bust, be similar position to Bradford or Widnes.
No way would we have won two cups Pearson has been great for Hull, has he made mistakes yes and his loyalty to Radford worries me. We are in a better place on and off the pitch, ok we arent quite were we want to be, but it miles away from the Kath/Rule and Agar era.'"
Given what Rule did to Widnes to say Pearson is better than him is practically the dictionary definition of damning with faint praise.
My personal opinion is that Pearson is without doubt a safer pair of hands than Kath/Rule, but I agree with Seb that in terms of results on the pitch we've been little or no better under his stewardship.
I don't necessarily think that's a problem. Pearson is a steady hand on the tiller, he won't over commit to put the club at risk and we should be thankful for that.
He's run the club effectively and made some wise investments in infrastructure, but these have proven ineffective in making us any more of a consistent challenger to the likes of Leeds, St Helens, Wigan etc.
We're in a echelon of teams that can have intermittent successes, but never turn this into a period of domination. We've been to 1 GF since its inception in 1998. The same as Castleford and Salford. Castleford and Huddersfield have each won a league leaders shield during the Pearson era whilst we have not.
Maybe, as Mrs B suggests, it's down to our turnover being too low to compete, though how does that explain the stats above.
I don't have a problem with Pearson running a steady ship. The only thing that irritates me is the constant media soundbites about performances being unacceptable then doing nothing about it, or "I expect to be in the GF" when experience shows us that the current coaching team can't get us there.
If he's dead set on keeping Radford then just be honest about it and stop with the false promises of success.

| LOL @ Isaiah
Again ill repeat not once have i said Pearson out even if Mrs B has to resort to pulling posts out from years ago - i said he was clueless then and hes not exactly great now either - his continuous support of a coach who consistently doesnt get the best out of what he has in front of him proves that.
But at least were doing well in the decent (but rented) training facilities league that some people seem to laud us about. Oh and merchandise sells well.

Great post.
My dilemma though is, because of the bit in bold, we need to let the season develop, in order to establish what the squad is likely to achieve.
6 games in isn't long enough, but how long is too long?
