| IMO 2 year deal would have been ideal. But we look to be going in the right direction and things are looking rosy behind the scenes. Player recruitment looks good and everybody seems to be playing for the coach and team. COYH

| Quote: Thetalentboy "Love the way people say there was so much "deadwood" but finished 6th and cup final
Weve done well but if Gentle has this squad wed be top 2 without a doubt'"
Dead wood = drifting players. The like of Arundel, Jason Crookes. Players of reportedly big contracts but never going to be good enough. Jacob Miller as the time, was not good enough and on a big wedge. Players with poor attitudes, Ben Crooks / Westerman. Players who couldnt care less, Lineham. Not saying some of these players didnt try, but the attitude around the club stank.
You quote on another post about the 2 poor seasons of 2014 / 15. Yes there were poor, but you completely fail to acknowledge Pearsons comments when Radford was appointed about shifting the deadwood and instilling a professional approach. Radford was criticised on this forum for saying the fans wanted things as of yesterday. You are a great example of that in this situation.
Gentle would never have had this squad, we would have floundered around 8-6 in the league. You comment is complete nonsense as there is plenty of doubt.

We've had a good start, a bit early to be laying rose petals at Radfords feet.

| Too soon and too long, a one year extension at this moment in time with another year or two added based on performance would have been more appropriate.
People saying LR might have gone elsewhere if we hadn't have snapped him up now are living in cloud cuckoo land!
3 years is the kind of contract handed out when you actually win something, not when you have half a good season following on from two awful ones.
If come season end we have reached the top 4 and/or progressed in the cup then a 2 year would have being acceptable as that is very good progress and LR would rightly deserve a contract extension of that length, win something and a 3 year would then be appropriate, right now is too soon and way too long.
As for the comments regarding PG and SM, as ever not a scrap of evidence but certain people who twist any positives by Gentle as being all down to Radford and all negatives solely on Gentles head.
Who knows where we would have been in 2014/15 I'd be confident we wouldn't have finished 12th with Gentle in charge. Given the same spending on quality players (motu was here in 2013) and more fruition from the youth set up (Gentle played the youth more than Radford did by far and that is an absolute fact that ive pointed out in the past) Gentle would have done better IMHO but it's just that an opinion based on how things had been turned around by PG in a very short period of time.
But he isn't here, Radford is and doing a good job so far this season, some same mistakes that are costing us that he just has to recognise and do something but the improvement in attack has been night and day compared to his first two seasons in charge, that has been the sole difference, not defence but attack. I hope he can continue improving and we can be there or therabouts season end, with the squad we have we should be contenders at least.

| Very lucky man in my opinion to have kept his job based on the last two seasons.
That said the club is going forward and Radford has to take credit for that.
We are not far away from being a very good side and i have no problem with the club extending Radfords current contract.
If our Chairman thinks he is worth a 3 year extension then fine.

| Lets hope the wheels don't fall off and the steady improvement nose dives cos 3 year deal will seem like a lifetime . Deserves a deal on current form though but not 3 years .

I can't believe anyone doubted Radders, best coach in Super league.
We may need to buy a new trophy cabinet, to accommodate all the Silverware that's coming our way.
"It'll be jam tomorrow for all you (B)Radford fans who except mediocrity".'"
If wit was poo you would be constipated ,at the moment he is doing a great job and thats what bugs you,he is proving you wrong and it s hurting .If you cannot see how the Club is heading then you should give up and find another Club because even if we go on to to great things you will say its not Radfords doing

I'm pretty sure I said in my post that Radford is the best coach in the league, why would it bug me that he's doing a great job? (answer that please), and he's not proving me wrong, I've tipped us for Silverware.
You've dropped a clanger there sunshine, or maybe you didn't understand and have jumped to the wrong conclusion.
When we win the title, this is what I'll sing
We are the champions, We are the champions
Radford is our king

| After this good news, some are looking back and making comparisons with Gentle ? not really sure why ?
When PG came, he too was an untried first team coach like Radford. So a rookie too, who albeit had been working under one of the best around, so I felt that at last we had our man. But in the final analysis he didn't deliver. I was disappointed when he went as I liked the guy. But thats not enough is it.
He threatened on occasions to get us to play but it was just never consistently good enough. Wembley could have been his springboard but it ended up his trap door. As a first time coach his behind the scenes organisation and management were questioned by AP, and rightly so. The Huddersfield debacle was his final nail.
When LR came I was very surprised but prepared to give another Rookie a chance. His plan was about improving all things slowly, The culture of the Organisation, a new firmer, straight talking management style, recruitment of Key Personnel in Motu, offloading quickly those he believed not suited to his culture and quality standard.
The first 2 years for any Rookie are going to be difficult learning years, even more so when your carrying out root and branch change to a sleeping giant.
But my word is it now starting to bear fruit.
I believe we have the best young coach in SL. He has created a club model that will be self supporting. He has an outstanding recruitment record. He is on the cusp of creating the holy grail of a winning mentality, we are now equal 2nd in the league and playing a brand of rugby not seen here for many a year. I'm as excited about what I see now as when we brought in Farrar, Knocker, Sammy and Charlie. We've waited a long time and now we should will be able to knock on the trophy cabinet door for a few years to come.
A 3 year deal for Lee Radford is excellent news and will be celebrated in my house.
And from AP, a massive statement of confidence and continuity in what is happening at our great club.
