| Quote: carl_spackler "Good performance, but perhaps not quite as good as the scoreline suggests as Cas gifted us a couple. Don't think you can say any Hull player played badly, although there were maybe a handful who were still a bit mixed (e.g. Yeaman, Lynch). Some also seemed to start a little slowly but then had really good games the longer the game went on (Westerman, Briscoe, and particularly Horne, who I thought had an excellent 2nd half). Galea's best game for us IMO, although I do still think his gametime needs to be managed better. Looked like he was really blowing for the last 10 of the first half to me. Thought Watts looked in really good condition for his first game back.
The most pleasing thing for me was that we showed more patience with the ball and actually built pressure instead trying to score on every tackle. Still a few occasions where we were guilty of trying too hard and turned over possession, but a vast improvement in this area.
Has there been any mention of Johnson and Pitts and why they were the ones to make way? Was it just tactical? I can't remember seeing them in the warm up, but strangely Chris Green was there despite not being in the 19. Wondered if one of them had dropped out injured or anything.
Jason Crookes has a job on to get back in the side.'"
good post mate i saw Chris green and Jason Crookes both out there in the warm up don't no if anyone else spotted him? i think it will be hard to drop lineham but Crookes was playing well before the injury id say just swap them both to keep them fresh every now and again good to have that depth in the wings though!

Well on tonight's performance I think it would be hard to disagree if that happened next week.

Agree with the patience bit. Thought lynch went well personally and more so 2nd spell.
Thought watts looked really trim but 1st impressions are he's not lost anything though. Strong 1st game back.
Decent enough performance, should keep the drama queens at bay for the week at least. Ha

Thought Lynch started the second half badly/sloppily but recovered. Still not up to last year's standard IMO.

| When tickle started fighting i though (i could be wrong) he got caught with a high tackle, a few did go by the way side for both teams... Now for me if ganson had blown for it it then none of that would have happened? Maybe im wrong just how i saw it. Besides, good effort from everyone tonight, nothing to get too excited by but i was more impressed with the work rate. Most fans dont care too much about winning or losing, they just want to see the team trying their best. Think they did tonight.
Well done

| Can't argue against that scoreline even though Cas were $h17 . Much better test next week to see were we are.

| We could have won by more! Heremaia almost through. Yeaman should have got a penalty try. If that wasn't at least a penalty for the shove off the ball in a certain try-scoring position, then it should have been a scrum because Cas knocked on and we didn't get advantage (under the new rules). Tom Briscoe made an outstanding run as well.
Thinking about it, I may get this game on DVD. Loads of highlights!

While I'd have no gripes with that, in fact I actually think Crooks offers a good deal more than Yeaman, Yeaman and Briscoe have not exactly had a great deal of good service lately. We seem to be predominantly attacking down the right edge at the moment.

| Was a strange game for me. At times in the 1st half we really struggled to make much ground with ball in hand and looked a bit bereft of ideas at times but were saved by holdsworth's excellent kicking game (How we've missed a player who can kick like that since cooke left) and a cas winger who couldn't catch.
When watts and heremia came on we suddenly transformed (may have been down to cas' heads dropping) and looked like a completely different team.
2nd half we just overwhelmed them and were obviously more confident with the ball.
Defence was good for the most part all game

| Fantastic to nil a side in Super League.
Great to see Watts and Bowden in, I think they both have huge potential.
Pleased for Arundel, and somewhat relieved!

| Must watch a different match to everyone else,I personally thought Yeaman had a good game, ran the ball in strongly, making very good metres (he & Briscoe didn't get much ball) and had Shenton in his back pocket all night.
P.S. For anybody to suggest Gentle would of dropped Yeaman for Crookes instead of Arundal must be barking MAD,Arundal is so far behind Yeaman its scary, in fact,Crookes is miles in front of him.

| Maybe Cas weren't that good but I wont be worrying too much as I'm sure the top 4 don't think like that for a second when hammering teams like this. As I said earlier our tactics were spot on in the conditions and I think at this stage we actually look better keeping it fairly tight using, yes, the inside ball a fair bit amongst the forwards. The fact the Danny Houghton was so much better in this game meant we rolled better despite at times in the first half still labouring a bit when playing the ball. Pleasing for me was the way we were able to soak up what Cas had to offer against a fair weight of possession in the first half. Everyone did their jobs in defence to the standard required and you could see confidence grow each set.
Hard to pick out individuals outside of the hat trick heroes. I thought Lynch improved up to his high standard in his second spell and Horney is just a different player when along side DJ. Really pleased with the condition Watts was in and he was a handful. I thought Yeamo and Tom did their best with limited ball but a final mention for Joe Arundel who I would have had playing for York this weekend. Thought he showed glimpses of why he was signed - physically he looks the real deal and seeing him with a bit more ball in hand he looks a well balanced runner. If he can gain confidence from his defensive performance and hopefully in his shoulder then maybe we've a good player. Well done to PG for sticking with him but he needs to back it up against a better Hudds centre and build on this. His deft change of direction before receiving Horney's sublime short ball shows potential class let's hope the improvement continues.

I think that's a bit unfair on Arundel, i thought he had a great game and proved all the doubters wrong. I know one good game does'nt make a summer but he must of got massive confidence from that performance. Everyone forgets he is still a young kid and a bit raw, but i for one saw the potential last night and he will get better i have no doubt.
