| Quote clubfoot fc="clubfoot fc"agreed but lets be fair the south stand only ever sells out for the Derby so when i read it had sold out i was amazed....until i heard about this promotion'"
Thats true but the club have been banging on all season about buying your tickets in advance as they expect the South and East stand to be close to a sell out for every game. The South stand was very full for the Hudds and Cas game.

| Can you not just get him an east stand ticket, and then just sit with him in there? (IE you go in the south and drift across)

| Quote Standee="Standee"Limited availability in the East, South Stand has always had a big "walk up", so they are being ignored by the club, fair enough do promotions, but let people know so they can also get their tickets in advance if theyw want to.
[uIt's a shambolic decision, should definately have been for the West Stand.[/u'"
Totally disagree, fans should not rely on walk-ups, if we can sell stands out before a match that is fantastic, the tickets given out for promotion have all being paid for already..Fans have an option to either buy a pass, order match tickets before a game or take a chance on a walk up..simplez really.

| It not as if the club has mounted this promotion weeks ago they have obviously waited till 4 days before the game before going for it!
Its an interesting one though isn't it?
I mean do the club leave seats empty on the off chance that people take them, or do they after weeks of banging on about getting your tickets well in advance, mount the second part of the free promotion at the Quins game and get a few thousand quid in, the stand full and perhaps a few new season ticket holders and regular attenders for the future. I doubt it will happen again this season, but if it has the effect of getting the bulk of tickets in the South stand sold in advance in future, then it will have been worth while.
It's really tough for those who walk up and buy but you can't leave seats empty on the off chance. The clubs job is to fill seats and build the audience, both of which this does. Sadly there is a bit of fall out, but free tickets, to cut price tickets, to full price tickets is a classic marketing progression to develop audiences, be it in the theatre or in Sport. They may have put the promotion in the South Stand so that the new comers get the atmosphere and passion that there is in there. Thats what I would have done! We would be complaining if the club were not proactive in their marketing and it was half empty, and we will complain when its full, thats our perogativel!!!
However I do feel for those who want to walk up and buy as they usually do, its tough on them I agree!
Just as always my views!

Good post Wilf, however the amateur clubs have been aware of it for a couple of weeks.

No, it really isn't "simplez", it's silly management, any offers should have been for the West Stand.

| As only a very small minority of fans use this board I bet there will be loads turn up on Friday night to find they can not get in the South.

Indeed, and then be faced with the option of paying more to go in the West or wasting the trip, as I said, incredibly poor.
(and not being able to go to games doesn't preclude people from making observations about their opinion)

its a first come first served system, don't see how else the club is meant to sell tickets?
really don't get what the fuss is about, if someone wanted to go in the south stand so badly they've had weeks to go to the ticket office or phone up.
or would you rather they left thousands of seats empty just in case some people turn up at 7:55 and want a seat?
there will be about 10,000 empty seats on Friday night, nobody is going to get turned away.
