He would have given us options within team, Yes he is getting on now but constantly rolling out Senior is getting embarrassing. How many more coaches are going to pick the same players that constantly fail at international level.

So we play a 2nd rower at centre...even Atkins would have been better.
Smiths subtituions where baffling as well,Morley,Peacock and Eliss off at the same time was criminal.

Never mentioned anything about Gardner, my post was in reply to someone saying Calderwood was one of our top players.
I know 'fook all', please tell me the the points in my post where I have got it completely wrong!

| Quote keyboard="keyboard"Didnt see the game due to work.
So what ,apart from allegedly having a poor game did Calderwood do that people are in uproar about ?!?!?!?!'"
Think I must have watched a different game to most people. In the game I watched, Calderwood made one mistake when he dropped a high ball (several others (inc Ozzies) did too) but other than that had a fine game.
Roby and him were the only players worth a mention - Calderwood showed plenty of desire and completely showed up Gardner. The fact that Australia scored most of their tries on Gleeson and the wandering Gardner's wing speakes volumes.
And Calderwood seems to have had no raps for running diagonally across the pitch to intercept Slater on Gardner's wing when Gardner was left dithering in Slater's wake. Calderwood forced him to hesitate and had the non-existant back-up been there Slater wouldn't have scored. Instead Calderwood gets slagged for falling on Slater's head - well at least he was there!!
Ok, I know there's not much of a British talent pool to pick from, but I'm starting to think that the best 2 British wingers both play for Hull FC.

I thought wCalderwood was ok..the dropped ball should have been taken but after that he did nothing wrong, didnt do nothing startling either...shouldnt have been in that posistion thanks to the daft penaltys we was giving away.
You said a winger should be sound,Calderwood was barring a mistake which should have ben taken...Gardner wasnt sound at all
Hows that for you?
BTW...Would you be having the same conversation if Fox had dropped it.

| Quote The Kings of Hull="The Kings of Hull"Not to mention being the only one to chase back and stop Billy Slater scoring a certain try.'" Iam lucky i can remember when we used to beat the Aussies with real forwards like Dennis Hartley,Mal Reilly,Jimmy Thompson and Johnnie Ward. These kids were frightened of no one,so they were half way there when it came to winning.Real muck and nettles players who would carry the ball through a minefield if you asked them to.Half backs like Millward,Hardisty and Hepworth who could tackle like forwards and directed the players round the pitch.Look at today's pack,Sinfield-ordinary at International level,Morley and Peacock too old,Wilkin more interested in promoting himself and showing the world the contents of his fridge,Gareth Ellis pretty anonymous.I am sick of hearing for the last thirty years that we are catching up,we are not and we never will unless we are prepared to bite the bullet and go back to playing with home grown players in super league.A certain Aussie player said he could not play another year in the N.R.L. and he was thinking of retiring because of the physical aspect of there game but he can play in the super league for a massive contract even though he is at the end of his career. All we are is a pension fund for Aussies who treat our game with contempt but don,t mind taking big bucks for one final pay day.

Where you said Slaters dropped ball cost the Aussies, it was in the 46th minute and we never scored from it, thats one

Telegraph match report "Only try-scorer James Roby, Mark Calderwood and James Graham emerged with any real credit." That's him in our top 3 then according to an independent journalist.
