Cant believe the club have prioriticed Bell over a quality centre or halfback if he is taking a quota spot.That would be madness so i guess they believe he will come off quota.

Isn't the change around players applying for UK citizenship or being eligible to apply? Surely that has nothing to do with what division you played in?

Either they believe they are getting him off quota. Or they already have an English centre and halfback tied down (King and Pryce for example). I don't think that's likely to be the case if I'm honest, but I don't think we can judge this one fully until all signings have been announced.


Bell is a good player, I'll be happy to have him, but I agree we have other roles that need filling more urgently.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case , doubt we’d sign bell has a back up back rower which we needed , but no forward thinking involved regards other signings . Also wouldn’t be surprised if some of our overseas signing ( rapana / cust ) weren’t with us next season.

NO 5hit Sherlock…..I think we will leave our recruitment to Myler and Carty,who have done a decent job of it so far.How do you know we haven’t already got English half and centre lined up.

People on here were unhappy with the overseas recruitment of Sezer, Cust and Rapana and yet they all seem decent pick ups so far so maybe lets wait to see how it all pans out.

Think it’s a fair assessment to be honest. As has been said by ZH it could be we already have non quota replacements lined up. We won’t really know the bigger picture until more of the recruitment is announced as/when. 

It would seem odd to use up a last remaining quota spot on Bell when we already have Jed & Batchelor if we are still searching for a half & centre to add to the squad for 2026. Could even be as Windy suggests some of our current quota players could leave. 


We just don’t know at this stage but think the club have done ok so far turning things round from last years mess in terms of squad and use of cap. 

Calm down - is discussion not allowed on this discussion forum? I'm sure Hull do have further plans but there are very limited English options for those positions. Pryce maybe although he's next in line for Newcastle atm and has just played a great game in the reserves. Maybe they're happy with Sezer/Cust/Charles as options for 2026. Regardless using a quota spot on a back up 13 is questionable but as others have said perhaps they can get him off the quota.

I'd say only Abdull and Holmes haven't worked out so far out of the new regimes signings and with Chamberlain the jury is out (length of contract more the issue) the rest have been good, Borough in particularly looks an astute pick up.

Then again on saying that re Holmes interestingly Cartwright had spoken about the affect/impact Holmes had on the squad off the field in and around the group. So whilst on field input hasn’t worked out so far, his character has done. Cartwright is no mug and wouldn’t just say things to appease, he’s known for his honesty within the game.
