Whoever was given this task would have to do the things Radford is doing and would be getting the criticism Radford is getting. It's a massive job, at least 3-5 years IMO, we need to back what AP is trying to achieve.'"
I don't think anyone disputes that and maybe radford will have a good crack at it but the worry is his coaching of the 1st team appears inadequate so no matter what happens off the field and what players we have on it we're never likely to maximise what we have with radford in charge

I don't think you can do what he's doing without putting players noses out of joint as 'mates' are outed etc. Like AP said, there's still some who aren't of the right character for the culture we're trying to adopt. This might have been reflected in certain performances.

I don't think it's a lack of effort. Other than the 2 wigan games we haven't looked like we haven't been trying this season but some of the most fundamental skills are poor and execution of set plays is painfully slow. We constantly lose the collision when we have the ball and the passing and decision making from dummy half isn't good enough. A few better players will improve things but not to the extent that we will be serious challengers for SL. With a better coach we would be playing better than we are.
With all of their problems, bradford have won only 2 less games than us this season

Didn't they issue the same apology when the 17 man squad didn't turn up at Wigan the week before?

| In light of AP's comments it certainly gives an insight into the issues they have faced at the club. If these comments had been made at the begining of the season I could have accepted our currrent league position as it would have been clear there was a change of ethos towards development from within which has been so successful to the likes of Leeds and Wigan.
However I feel a little let down by the club as we were lead to beleive that last seasons Wembley appearance was to be a spring board to try and compete for silverware. I am under no illutions that we were to be GF contenders. That said if there had been more honest communication from the off and if we had then really targetted the CC this season I am certain that even with a finish of 12th in the league there would not have been the dispondent feel amongst us, the fans.
I will probably buy a season ticket next year merely due to force of habit but there are many out there for whom this is a season too far. I just wonder if there had been more openness from the start of the campaign about the restructuring I personally think that Radford would have more of the fans backing.
Of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Well said. Sometimes I think the club really lets itself down with it's media/fan handling. I know they didn't build us up with a "Bel13ve" style campaign and it was more subdued this year but I don't think anyone expected us to be as bad as we have been. I know they couldn't have come out with "There's major issues at the club and we need time to restructure and this may affect the on field performances" as that would have been season pass suicide but if they had said some of the things from AP's interview and programme notes from the off I do think the majority would have been more patient, knowing that we're building for a brighter future.

True, but I'd prefer to be told the honest truth than to be lead to believe there is a magic wand solution.
Most knew we didnt have the quality of squad to go all the way to be champions.
If we, as fans, had been aware of the financial / contractual mess left by McRae (I personally dont blame Gentle as he was first team coach and not in charge of dishing out he salaries. ) it makes a bitter pill of a poor season slightly easier to swallow.

The two examples you mention are directly dictated by player ability/work ethic. Some of our forwards inability to get a quick ptb is down to them being willing and able to wrestle (which I hate and will hopefully be eradicated by the 2 refs system). The poor distribution and decision making from dummy half is down to one player!

Didn't Radford say he wanted the players to "win the wrestle" and that they actually had wrestling training pre-season, which was how Tuson got injured the first time?

He was right in the end: |

He also said at the now defunct "fans forum" that he wanted "goers" people who gave it a go.
