| Quote Graham Richards="Graham Richards" Now if he and the council do dislike each other that much why don't the council simply relieve him and the SMC of their duties.

It is either a money pit or it is not (obviously).
If it is, then I don't understand why the Allams don't dump it. It's doing them little good, and it would drop a problem on the council, who they don't like. And via them the people of KuH, of course.
If it isn't, then I don't see why the council didn't take up Ehab's offer to relinquish control. It'd not be difficult to find somebody else to do it, I'd have thought. You might have thought somebody might have put in a cheeky offer, even.
Bit of a enigma, IMO.

If only there was someone in town with a proven record of running a stadium management company at a profit
surely the council put some kind of re-tender clause in the SMC's licence? then again the council pay rent to rent space in the stadium they own so who knows

Indeed. You wonder what has changed. Hull FC's tenancy agreement has slightly. And the stadium is older. This new pitch would wipe out a few years profit by itself. Plus, maybe the hassle of walking into a political storm that is still rumbling along is just not worth it.

The Allams publically offered to hand back control, so there was no need for a clause. That the council then went very quiet was one of the intriguing aspects of the 'unfortunate' Whiteley-gate affair.

| Apparently they're not now walking away in 24 hours. Who'd have thought it? They were relocating to Melton after not getting the stadium, right? The Sporting Village gift had no commercial aspect to it when outlined, yet subsequently the commercial income they expected it to generate was a cornerstone of their plan. Amazing stuff. Truly.
