It's not just the 4 or 5 players thing though, he'll have a leader, organiser and inventor on the pitch next season and he'll have had 4 months (minimum) of him working with the squad. I've been one of Agars loudest critics but he's had nothing to work with.

A lack of a half back doesn't stop us from getting quick PTB, dominating the opposition in defence, making effective interchanges, offloading the ball, backing up the man in posession, running dummy runners, kicking the ball effectively, chasing down kicks as though we're actually interested. I'll give you the interchange thing, but look at us in attack totally unorganised which means should we ever get the quick ptb (usually on the back of Cusack, Dowes or Manu) the only option open to the acting half is to scoot themselves because nobody is ready. Look how slow we are to tap the ball on the 20 ffs. Again support play and offloading is nothing to do with Agar it's been atrocious for years, kicking again is down to lack of personnel Richard Horne should not be anywhere near kicking a ball but has to because there is no one else. We do need more enthusiasm in both attack and defence and maybe once Agar can offload some of the players who are clearly going through the motions this might change.

Codswallop. It's down to coaching, whether that be Agar or the coaches before him. The fact he inherited a problem and hasn't fixed it does not clear him of being at fault.
