McNamara was our first choice and the one we sought to bring in from Bradford, but he turned us down.

I know we are going round in circles a bit on this, but having seen 2 coaches not get things right, you would think that Agar would have shown some initiative by changing a few things. This clearly has not happend, yet he still got the extention of contract.

Personally, I believe that after losing 3 coaches in quick succession, the last thing the club needed was an inexperienced man at the helm. It was the perfect time to look for someone with experience to take control for 2 or 3 years and steady the ship, possibly to act as a successful mentor to agar. What we didn't need to do was to throw someone in who was obviously ill equipped to do the job and who would be learning as he went along. I agree that the decision to renew his contract was shocking but it was not really any worse than appointing him in the first place IMO.

Problem agar has is that he's never worked with a top class coach at a top class club in a top class environment. He doesn't seem like an innovator so we're getting exactly what you'd expect

McBanana has already won a 4N game IIRC. Admitadly it was a close run thing against PNG but he's done it.
