| Well this is the sort of stuff that has to go on if we are to have the best first team squad possible after the standards of recruitment have been allowed to slip so drastically over the past couple of seasons. Myler and Cartwright are trying to cobble together the strongest squad they can from the players who would entertain coming to such a run down club as we have become. I don't think they have done too badly on that score. It's a start and there are a lot of winners at the club now at least. Well they are winners at present anyway!!!
Walker has got a deal of quality in him, can break the line and has a good footballing brain but they have obviously decided that his ability is not the issue but it is his inability to stay on the field for any length of time.., for me that's the sad one, but after watching closely the frequency of injuries he has sustained and the nature of those injuries he is quite frankly injury prone simple as. For me as well Morgan Smith has tried hard and looked to show some loyalty to the cause, but he is a Championship level player, while Tindall bless him isn't even good enough to challenge our two rookie wingers who eclipsed him last season. But when he was offered a contract who can blame him for signing it??
For the last 24 months or so we have, lets face it been a 'rest home' for these sort of players who, if they were honest, knew their short comings but were able to survive because of the ineptitude of the coaching staff and the attitude and lack of accountability of many of their colleagues, with contracts offered to them who wouldn't be tempted to do what they have.
I understand all three players have known about this for some time and the fact they are to remain around the club training etc when obviously there is no place for them in the first team squad (something that has been made clear to them), is I understand down to the way they have accepted the situation they find themselves in.
While no obvious British quality middle is available they will continue to keep fit and use the facilities at the club and lets face it teams like Oldham and London are actively searching out such talent at present. However, to give Cartwright the best possible chance, I'm sure should a possible recruit suddenly become available then we will be paying some or all of these players off. Perhaps that's what they and their agent are waiting for. Either way I think this is a sign that the club are prepared to be ruthless in trying to restructure our team, but at the same time understanding of situations that have been beyond certain players control. It also saves us laying compensation payments out , but Lets face it its not their fault that they were signed in the first place is it?? We all know who that was down to don't we?
It all feels satisfactory for me at present unfortunately fine words big aspirations and raised hopes are we all know from experience the things by which good subscription levels of season tickets are built but the reality out there on the pitch, come the start of the season, we also all know to our cost, is something different altogether. It's always easy to be optimistic when we aint playing anyone.

He said if Walker could get his kicking game sorted he'd be as good as Bevan French. Nearly fell off my chair

| walker is a good player and we looked far more dangerous with him in the team. He's streets ahead of moy and likely a better FB than rapana but he's always injured so can understand the desire to move him on

put Walker in a good team and he would be a class act
Still doesnt make sense to me to use a quota spot on an ageing winger to play full back when we have Walker,Hardaker,Moy and litten particularly as we are crying out for a strike centre and a powerful front row.
Wasnt blighted by injuries when at HKR because their Physios recognised and worked on the leg areas that they needed to build up,and we certainly have some incoming players with suspect injury records.
He has pace and unfortunately all players with pace are susceptible to hamsting injury.

He was only there four months and he missed five games.

Do you think Jack Walker would be first choice full back at Canberra Raiders?

Says it all really doesn't it!!!! IMG take note (but they won't). I guess we will have sold more since the last announcement of 6000 plus and although the deadline was yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if they now use that old James Clark trick and announce an extension of the deadline 'due to popular demand', I wondered in the first instance if introducing an early deadline date compared with other years was a mistake but it will be interesting to see what we end up with. Although those predicting 2000 and 3000 max were in cloud cuckoo land (we are made of sterner stuff than that) but I have to admit that its more than I thought One things for sure we must have the most long suffering fanbase in the history of Super League!

whilst i tend to agree, the club has got themselves into a right mess on and off the field, at the end of a players contract we need to be more ruthless, not just giving players another year or 2 because he's an 'ull lad for example, talks the talk, trains well but doesn't do it on the pitch.
as for Walker, just unlucky i reckon, probably on a fair whack and his injury record come into consideration in him being told he can leave.

probably not but at 25 is much better long term value at Hull FC than Rapana is at 35

Debatable given that Walker has left a club five times now in three seasons.
Myler and Cartwright have presumably decided that Rapana is a better bet and offers more on and off the field.

| Walker has played 47 games since 2020
Rapana has played 101 since 2020.
Walker is one of those guys who has talent but can't stay on the pitch
