| Quote: UllFC "They did indeed invest for 2010 likely due to fear of pass sales falling. But my point was there was no urgency to save 2009 as with no relegation it didn't matter.'"
But they did make mid season signings that year. Lauaki, Tansey and Cordoba, albeit all terrible. And then splashed out to address it the following season. Not defending them either, but they did spend the money.

| Tansey wasn't a bad player, had some good games, was a absolute nightmare off the pitch though.

| The more I watch and read the more I feel like this is one of those Ramsay Kitchen Nightmare classic episodes.
Gareth Ellis has finally convinced me on Adam as the clueless owner who spends all his time in his office clacking on the calculator wondering how to make ends meet. Whilst his Swedish muppet head chef ( the head coach ) is cooking up absolute shoite in the kitchen.
James Clarke is the clueless loyal wife. Crying that she just wants it all to come right like it was in 16/17.
The players and asst coaches are just the kitchen staff and waiting staff.
The whole restaurant (Hull FC fine dining) is totally flucked.
Adam can’t solve it because he is the problem.
He needs to put the Club up for Sale and move his passionless head chef on to another job

| Here’s the secret of coaching from
Our esteemed Head Coach
“We've got to get angry and get desperate before we get out there; otherwise, the opposition is going to embarrass us.
They were embarrassing us there. We've got to fight before we get to that stage and prevent that from happening”
Is that it ? Is that the answer after 18 months of being in charge ?
He does know that anger on a pitch lasts about 5 mins - surely he knows that?
What he needs is a week full of anger and determination and professionalism in training. Something Gaz Ellis said is missing in spades.
Players in a poor team are usually in one of two categories, and anger doesn’t solve any of their issues.
1. Can’t do it - you know some in here
2. Won’t do it - once again fans know some in here
Tony needs to sort out both issues but Adam needs to go shoulder to shoulder with him and fix both issues
1. Training and confidence boosting for group 1
2. Man management for this group. Fit in or fluck off but done in the fairest way possible with consequences and rewards

| TS management style always hits me and somebody you would like in charge when things are good, morale is high and he builds your confidence and belief with his ultra positivity. When in a bit of a hole I’m not sure he’s somebody you’d want leading you in the trenches, going to war and leading by example (metaphorically) putting a rocket up their backsides.
Great coaches can do both.
His interviews are becoming comical, as much as I enjoy watching the demise of FC I sometimes read them and think what the hell is this guy on about. I’d be fuming as a speccie watching some of these recent performances and then hearing and seeing his thoughts, he’s got some cheek.
Very good historically, not sure he is now. Not sure what a solution or other option would be though

| I've been very critical of Smith and I think it's only right I try and be a little more balanced in my criticism. There is something I need to congratulate him on.
I went into Beverley last night (I'm in my 40s now, so I was done by 10pm).
I spoke with a few Hull fans and they didn't really seem as low as I did about the derby. I think relief that we had an OK second half and we didn't get gubbed.
Then it occured to me. Tony has changed the culture. We'd just lost a derby (by 24 points) but felt relief it wasn't by more. That is a culture change for me as I've certainly never known fellow fans be forgiving of a heavy derby defeat.
We are culturally changing to accept defeat, so long as it's not too heavy.
You did that, Tony.

| Tony Smith signed a player from NRL for Rovers called Brad Takairangi. He was going to be the bees knees and cost a lot of money. We even had to let Robbie Mulhern go to create the funds for him via a swap deal in which the cheap Louis Johnson replaced him and freed funds for Takairangi,
Smith played Takairangi who was a centre at half back with no success and then Taka got drunk drove on the wrong side of the A63 and crashed into a police car. He was very very close to jail.
This is how Tony Smith changes the culture of a club.

There's no question that Takairangi was a a poor signing by Smith. However you've overlooked the fact that he signed both Albert Vete and Korbin Sims who turned out to be world beaters.
Give Tony some credit.

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.
Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony.
I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

What if there isn't a suitable buyer out there?
If (according to the unsubstantiated rumours) Pearson is drawing down a monthly salary from the club's income, then he's only likely to sell up to a offer which makes it worthwhile for him to compensate losing this salary.
He is unlikely to simply give the club away (no matter what any of us on here may wish). What if there is no-one out there willing to meet even the minimum asking price? Maybe Pearson feels that unless he can sell for a handsome profit margin, he may as well stay and continue to draw his monthly salary out of the club. It's difficult to make someone sell an item if they have no specific interest in selling!
The situation needs someone (or group of interested people) to make Pearson the proverbial 'offer he couldn't refuse'. Everyone and everything has its price. If you are aware of any such people we're all ears. I'm not so sure (in the current climate) that there is anyone around who is prepared to put a large enough bid on the table to tempt Pearson to accept and call it a day.
Therein, lies our problem!

Smith has moved on from that failed experiment. He no longer plays centres in the halves, he now only uses back-up hookers in that minor role in a rugby team!
Let's hope this experiment doesn't see the likes of Morgan Smith and Nu Brown careering down Clive Sullivan way on the wrong side of the road!!!
