I'm just trying to say that maybe, its not all his fault. I've certainly never walked away from a game saying "Berrigan looked average tonight". He's played in average performances. But like I said, if the quality around him was better...

Berrigan has been a disappointment. The expectations were huge with comments like "the biggest signing since peter Sterling" being bandied around. He was expensive and was to be pivotal. A player to take us to the next level. In fact he was never that sort of player , he played well with inspirational players around him , he didn't do the inspiring. The management of expectation was poor , misguided , mistaken , whatever but the marriage between Berrigan and Hull FC didn't work. The 4 year deal has made it worse. getting out is good but whether we'll get any benefit next season will depend on luck as to who's available and the board in respect of the choices thay make and to some extent what Berrigans fourth year option says.
I think to say he's never even been average is a bit harsh though!

He never i remember him stating he has read the board for a long time.

My point was that he has never looked an average player, which I stand by. He's put in bad performances (mainly this year), but his talent has always been there to see in flashes. Average is a term I reserve for much lesser players than Berrigan.

And I'm surprised you've taken so much exception to being accused of talking bullocks, when someone posts some of the stuff you have they've dug their own grave.

I agree it's not all his fault, Mrs B was lying through her teeth when she claimed I'd said he was rubbish, Fact is for whatever reason he's never lived up to expectations and I've got no doubt the money could be put to better use elsewhere. On top of that I don't feel a sentimental attachment to Berrigan.

Exactly. Until this year pretty much every game I came away feeling sorry for the guy being surrounded by talentless buffoons. Early this year I thought he must have been carrying injury he looked so off the pace. But like you, I've never left thinking he was one of the 'average' crowd we had several of.

Sounds like you must be basing some of it on what you knew about him from playing in the NRL rather than just what you saw for yourself?
