Exactly, we want to be getting a halfback that's got his best years ahead of him, not like Brough who in my opinion best years have gone he can only get worse now due to age/injuries .. that's a fact.

We have a couple of halfbacks with their best years ahead of them, we need an old head that can do a job now and guide/help Dean, Tyson-Wilson and perhaps Sneyd. V Wigan and Cas, a player like Danny Brough on the pitch could have given us the wins and also maintained momentum.

Based on what? Never played in Sl and looked average in the middle 8's.
He is a runner, not the type of player we need.
He might do Ok, but can't see how anyone can say he is a top signing.

Huddersfield would had used the Brett Ferres wages for him

I disagree with this point Dave.
We have plenty who can pass and we go from touchline to touchline but need someone with the pace to break through the gaps created or make the defence think.
We can be easy for a team with a well drilled slide defence to defend against.
Not saying Brierley would be the answer (not seen that much of him) but I do think we need a half back with pace.

We also paid a transfer fee for him.
Suggestion that our mercurial half back could be joining Mr. Ferres at Leeds.

| I would be surprised if Leeds were interested in signing Brough given his age. I see him staying at Hudds until he hangs up his boots. I would love to see him at Hull but I'm probably being sentimental

| It's been a while since we signed an injury prone, 30 something scrum half so we're probably due one.

| It's been 15 years since we had a home grown half break through to become a regular first team half. We've now got a couple of very decent young halves and they'll never get a chance until it's too late and they're surpassed by their peers at other clubs.
Either the youth set up and coaches are not good enough and our home grown halves aren't up to scratch and/or the head coach has no confidence in their abilities even when faced against a championship club in waiting like Wakefield when it would have being a perfect opportunity.
Signing another coffin dodger is just what we do though, facking pointless and doesn't work.

Agree we have to have a policy of actively promoting from the youth system or not bother with it at all.
Our half backs are a good example. We haven't had much success in this area for nearly a decade and have paid over the odds for some underwhelming overseas players. It would be nice to see a local player get a chance to breakthrough. However, opportunities are always going to be difficult as any Coach is always going to be under pressure to win.
Due to several indifferent seasons, we have become an impatient set of fans demanding improvement. Most young players will always need time to adapt to the senior game.
So what do we want? Take Abdul as a prime example. He had several promising games last season. Gets his first chance of the season at Widnes. Had an indifferent game, along with many others and seems to have taken most of the flak in the players meeting and hasn't been mentioned in anyone's squad since.
It will be interesting to see when he comes into the Coaches/Fans reckoning again. It also heaps more pressure on the next youngster to play in the first team. If you don't have a good game, you can go back to Academy and 'we'll call you'.
So what do we want, Youth to be given a chance, or hope the next signing makes the difference we all crave?

Abdul seems to have been left out of Doncasters team on Friday in favour of HTW so maybe Dons coach didnt think much of him when he played for them recently.

Hope Abdul doesn't just fade away. He showed some promising touches last year and looked one who could step up this season.
Fitness and guidance is what was required, but then that is what you expect from the Coaching team.
