Wigan signed Gelling who had not only never played first grade - but had been sacked for smearing excrement around his hotel room. I'm sure no-one would be complaining if we signed him? Wigan's other centre Dan Sarginson also considers himself a standoff, as did Jordan Turner at Saints. Joel Moon at Leeds was a stand off, Chris Bridge at Wire...basically, the league is packed with quality centres that started at off half. I think it's a lot rarer the other way round, and can only think of Schofield at the moment.

Quote: easthull fc fan "Or recruiting a decent up & coming utility player from who is available, but knock the club before you see him in action.'"

I think that some people are just frustrated that IF Carlos is one of the 3 top signings AP wrote about in the 18th man then I can understand them being a bit nonplussed with the signing.I expected from his statement that we would be getting well established, proven and experienced players or is this just more spin from AP.

I for one will welcome the lad to the club ,wish him well and hope he goes on to great things with us.

Pritchard & Taylor alone are massive signings, the big name players are not coming over as much as they used to, the only time players come over is twighlight of their careers or bad lad & no NRL side will touch them.

I don't know how you are going to use him, but he pretty much has all the basics.
He has a decent kicking game, he is big enough and athletic enough to play centre, he is fast and has a good step, he can tackle well.
I don't think you'll keep him for 3 years.
I expect him to make a position his own and earn an NRL contract well before 3 years.

I'm happy with this signing. Tall, athletic utility with good skills; I think he'll go well.

Welcome to Hull Carlos.

Absolutely willing to give him a chance, but it's an odd signing when we have an outstanding academy producing decent players who barely get a chance.

As it stands

Shaul
Lancaster
Tuimavava
Talanoa
Naughton

Logan as back up

Need at least two more backs IMO.

There's some pace in these really. Think we just need a decen strike centre with good hands.

I totally agree with you about Pritchard and Taylor, but reading the second part of your post about NRL players, why do you think AP would come out with the statement he has about 3 top class players.

I haven't heard his interview but I believe they are fetching in a very decent centre, they've a few on the radar which will be a massive improvement, but he says things to boost his clubs pass sales, every chairman does, I was just meaning the likes of inglis & co will never grace our competition unless like I posted earlier.

Do you reckon we will make two more signings? A centre and a winger? I reckon it will be one more I listened to the AP interviewee and I got the impression it was two new ones plus Pitchard.

If we make two more there is no need to keep Michaels and Yeaman.

Our forwards could do with another prop. Pritchard & mini are ultimate professionals, I'm happy we are signing these type of players as they are as good off the pitch as on it.

Quote: Raggytash "Last time I saw you post was to tell us how awful a signing Talanoa was, and how he'd be terrible for us. That season he won our player of the year. Now you've called Carlos awful - I'm pretty excited about the signing!!! I know you have this history of wanting to be some kind of English Malcolm Andrews, desperate to look like you have some some kind of exclusive NRL knowledge - but I'm afraid your credibility is shot!'"

Last time I took notice of you you were ing over a young qlds cup fb who went on to play amateur ru 7's.

If you believe Talanoa was Hull FC's player of the year last year you're as stupid as the person who gave him the award. To slow for wing, can't pass to play centre but he tries hard and plays up for the fans. He's Hull FC's Ben Cockayne.

I didn't call CT awful, I said he was an awful signing. Blocks players like Logan, Dean and HTW on a lot higher wages for a slightly better return.
