Westerman is a grafter as his stats show. Teams need grafters and you'd expect a high stats count from a player who regularly plays for most or all of the game. I think fans maybe expected him to be more creative when he signed but in general for whatever reason his contribution has been more with work rate. His biggest asset is his spirit for me - he gives it 100% whether things are going for him or not.

I agree with him. Westerman goes missing in big games. Hasn't at all been good enough this year imo.

Stats, are stats. They are simply measures which don't account for circumstance. For example, some of the impressive stats can be built up in the easier games.

When Westerman broke through at Cas, he was touted around as a future GB captain in the Paul Sculthorpe mould. Since moving to Hull he has become just a run of the mill back row grafter.
I haven't seen a real bit of quality from him since he set that try up at Craven Park 2 years ago.

Since all stats are gathered under the same circumstances they are an accurate method of comparison between players - especially players on the same team. People like to ignore or dismiss stats that don't back up their own biased assessment of a player, as this thread demonstrates rather clearly.

Again - he plays big minutes. That said I do see your point - stats can be used to tell different stories about any player.

As a neutral, I would have to go for Whiting, he really got stuck in & Wigan couldn’t handle his offloads.

Holdsworth is the one player who disappointed me. Miller is a kid brought over here for his potential, you kind of expect him to struggle with the occasion. Holdsworth is our leader and was just as bad, if not worse than the others.
