We had chances in the first five minutes to lay down a marker when we had possession in their 20. We didnt look like scoring. Loosing all 3 of the Tongon Mafia we lack any bite in the forwards. Any scrum half would have been made to look ordinary last night behind the pack. We lack size which I it think will cost us. Leeds dont have the biggest pack yet we couldnt handle them. We have more squad depth but it just seems average depth all round.

These two need time.How long have Sinfield,Burrows and Mcguire been together at Leeds-6/7 years.If after half a dozen games the situation has not improved then look at changing it.Keep Houghton and Heremaia as hookers as last night when Heremaia come on we did look better.After one match keep the faith.

As a neutral to me that was telling - on their line 3 times in first 7 mins. Not may teams with top 6 aspirations would have come away with 0 points. Early days though.

We have no forwards with an offload without Watts which is a worry and no one looked like breaking the line

Despite the half backs not playing well your much vaunted pack looked poor. Bailey and Peacock dominated every ruck and the number of offloads showed that. When your pack is beaten halves can rarely play ( look at us all of last season)

Kicking game was poor but see above.

Other thing is Leeds looked much more prepared than HUll, fitter, slicker, and more organised.

That could be due to having a more a settled team or better organisation and pre season planning.

What would concern me is if Ellis has had a foot injury that was not picked up by the medical staff and that he aggravated last night. I cannot believe he broke his foot warming up. If that is the case someone needs a b@ll|@cking.

The vast majority minds are made up already about Seymour. He defended really well for the first hour marking Ablett who can destroy plenty of players.

Look how Leeds 1,6 and 7 combine we aint gunna get that in round 1 so people saying change it around already is stupid. We need some continuity in these 3 positions not swapping beacause we got beat by the champions away in round 1. Mcd, DJ and Seymour are the 3 for me. We need Heremia at 9.

I think gentle needs to foot a little blame for last nights messy proformance, tinkering with the halfs through pre season and not allowing any combination or understanding develop, it's plain for all to see he isn't happy going with Seymour but any pair of halfs need time together ( not sure how many minutes they played together during friendlies) .
Let's be fair to Leeds to played with a great game plan attacking the halfs taking the energy and concentration away and putting any receiver under lots of pressure with a rush style defence that hull couldn't punch onto the back foot.

Seymour had nothing to work with last night, he and Holdsworth were both poor. He tackled really well last night for most of the game.

Ellis had over 3months of rehab at wests, came back for about 5games, played 3 for England and probably done over 100 training sessions in the corresponding period. Think this is a case of massive freaky bad luck.

i feel sorry for our players theres a lot of pressure to deliver this season they were taught a lesson by 1 of the top four weve got to keep the faith people are talkin like our seasons over before its begun.
