True but you can predict that when he does get injured, he will take alot longer than other players of his age to regain his fitness due to his diabetes.
Horne is great on the field but the problem at the moment is getting him there and keeping him there.

Yes but its not about how much the club are paying him, it about how much of the salary cap he takes up which is improtant. You wont find another 6 of his quality taking up so little of the salary cap space, even if he only plays half the season. As I said in an earlier post, Horne will lose a massive amount of value when Yeaman becomes eligible for the testimonial salary cap discount. I know it seems unfair but sometimes things have to be looked at from a business point of view and unless Horne can stay fit for the majority of next season, we need to look to get rid, which is a shame cos Horne has been a great player for us and should be a player in his prime.
I don't think Horne would be that much of a problem if Longy wasn't out injured just as much, personally I think we need to sign a half back who can play 9 also, so when all parties are fit, we can play Berro at 13, and still use the two hooker bench system.

| Unfortunately Richard is a luxury we cannot afford, it's as simple as that.

| I still think Richard can be a productive member of our squad and even if this current injury means he out of the team for the rest of the season he can have a more off the field roll ala Sculthorpe at Saints.
He still has years in him and came back from a lengthy absence with a good performance. I don't like the idea of a club that cancels contracts all the time just because of bad luck.
All the best Rich, you're a local hero.

| I think it's about time we used Richard Horne in the same way Wigan are using Paul Deakin - a really good back-up.
We need to sign a half-back that will last the season. They cost a lot of money. Only 50% Horne's contract counts on the cap due to being here over 10 years, so there's no point getting rid. If he's played less, it might mean we get more out of him as well.

It's £50k off the full salary cap. From next year Yeaman comes under this rule, but the £50k is per club regardless of number of players who come under the long service rule.

| For the same or less money we could probably get Rangi Chase (plus a smallish transfer fee of course) from Cas. I know who offers more value for money. Much as I love Rich he should probably be used as the cover in the halfs rather than relying on him.

Agree.
I think Chase is a cracking player, but even if FC did want him I doubt cas would want to lose him.
