Quote: Robbo4 "A slightly more worrying Stat for us at the moment is the number of offloads we have made in the 2 games so far. We have only made 12 offloads so far from 401 carries which is 0.02%. We are obviously playing an error free style of rugby at the moment which is to be expected but hopefully we will see the players promoting the ball more often once conditions improve.'"

With Raynor gone thats a big chunk as he was one of our most prolific off loaders.

Good point. As well as sometimes been great plays, they are also responsible for a lot of errors and gifting the opposition the ball back. So a conservative style is sometimes more suited.

The most impressive stat for me so far this year is the Tries Against figure of 3! Considering we have played 2 of last years top 3 teams that stat is mighty impressive.

If Hull maintain these high standards in defence then they have got one hell of a platform to build upon.

Good point, If you remember 2006 season we had a 12 or something winning streak built on the back solid defence.

Think it was 16 games, beating every team in the league along the way. Mind you, we had a few close calls and a bit of luck, probably using most of ours up for the next 3 seasons.

Definately thought on Friday that we would of lost that game last year and more than likely the season before, even after getting a 12 point lead.

Helps having the most prolific points scoring forward in NRL history as our reserve kicker. icon_lol.gif

Another interesting stat is that Fitzgibbon made 51 tackles on Friday night and 21 carries to go with his 34 & 23 from Saints. Could he top 1000 tackles this year at the tender age of 32?

Surprisingly he only averages 5.77m per carry (254m & 44 carries).

If i'm not mistaken, Fitz is top in the league for carries and tackles for the 10 teams that have only played twice.

eusa_clap.gif

EDIT - Just seen on another thread, Dallas Johnson has made more tackles than him. Oh well, at least he has a nice shiny head icon_smile.gif

Even more impressive is when you consider how these tries came about. Saints got their two when we were wrongly down to 12 men.

As for Hudders, their only try came when they got a penalty when we were on our 1st tackle (anyone know what it was Lauaki actually did to concede that penalty????) enabling them to start their set inside our 10.

So you can make the case that we've yet to concede a genuine try with 13 men on the pitch.....having played two decent teams.

All im saying is that they play a really basic game untill they get in the 20 then they have so many set plays and such a good kicking game sides tend to crack after periods of pressure.
