Hull's lack of transport doesn't help, try getting a taxi home on saturday night...if you haven't booked one (and even then there's a high chance it won't turn up, or someone else will steal it!) your not getting home.

people from other cities think its barmy that we have to pre-book taxis, as most cities have loads of them queuing up at the taxi ranks.

The problem is our nightlife area are well spread out. Old Town, New Town, Princess Ave, Witham all 'town' areas that are busy and need servicing by taxis at the same time.

I had heard a rumour, and it is only a rumour that the city chiefs were looking into creating one big nightspot in the city in the Old Town area. With the shops closing rapidly down Whitefriargate these would be turned into a long street of Cafe Bars and pubs, George Street replaced with Restaurants and late licences withdrawn from all other current nightspots but these areas.

I thought it was a great idea but how true I don't know.

Never went in R & J or LA's , I prefered Welly Dingwalls or Spiders.

I was out in town on Saturday night for the first time in years with soem work mates.

its not the pubs so much as the company and town was fairly quiet King Billys was dead tioll we pranced in. The bars seem to have taken the place of the clubs now and I ended up in V bar till gone 2 am







I also had no probs ordering a taxi and there are buses every hour down the main routes

Pozition is rammed every Thursday and Saturday. The place has been extended and it's pretty big now.
Sugar Mill is OK, but a bit small and cramped.
Welly is a dive but cheap as chips.
Spiders, well... don't go there! Do they still let 14 year olds in?!

Their the main clubs now. There are other smaller clubs, but a lot have shut down. Attic used to be a great night out. Biarritz used to be good but can't stand it anymore. Sharkies is great. King Billy's is full of aggro.

Of course I wasn't around for the days of Planet Earth, etc. Only started hitting the town around 2004.

Used to like Spiders on a Friday and Silhouette on a Saturday . Piper was good when it first opened as a club but as mentioned if you can drink in a pub til 2 why are you going to pay to get in a club ???

Thursdays were a decent night out in Hull one time of day. Tower especially.

In my going out days (mid-90's) Oasis was the place. Cheap as chips in the downstairs bar, best music in the town upstairs in the club.

Over 25's night and it was RAF!
