I think it is a sign of the general demise of the sport of RL in the UK, obviously combined with the effects on people's mindset of covid, that a team as fanatically, and often blindly, backed by its fans, such as Hull are now struggling. That decrease among Hull members is an massive percentage and has me very worried . Would there still be a smugness among opposition fans or general alarm if a club folded? What if our noisy neighbours suffer a disastrous season, for whatever reason, similarly Salford, Huddersfield, Wakefield or Cas? Could they survive? I say that because I do think the position of RL, in the UK's mindset, has been eroded to such an extent, by media RU bias and other factors, that unless someone can remedy the situation quickly, you'll see a part time game, akin to the pre SL era, among all but a handful of clubs, who rely on rich owners to support them. Pessimistic maybe, but the game has been squeezed financially by SKY, additionally now through a pandemic and most people agree that the standard of the game in the UK, in recent years, has been on a steep decline.

Rovers are going from strength to strength so no need to worry about us. We'll be purchasing the freehold to Craven Park very soon and the future looks very bright. Obviously we're hoping for a good season but Rovers are looking far beyond that and on firm foundations.

You're still spending miles more on players wages than Rovers but it's with money you don't have which is why you have such huge losses. Is it really worth it just to finish 8th?

Even before COVID Adam Pearson stated that Hull FC's spending was unsustainable so now it's with knobs on. So why spend marquee money on mid 30's injury prone Luke Gale? A player who Leeds stripped the captaincy from and were delighted to let go for nothing after they had paid a huge transfer fee, just to free themselves from his marquee wages.

Every year Pearson gambles on expensive signings which he thinks will transform Hull's fortunes and bring the fans in but every year he gets it wrong. His problem is that he owns the club lock stock and barrel and the only alternative is to cut his losses and pull the plug. Believe me, sooner or later that is exactly what he is going to do.

Please don't confuse your plight with other clubs. Salford cut their cloth, spend what they have and nothing more. Huddersfield have a multi-millionaire backer, Wakefield are used to managing on a budget. Rovers are a club on the rise with owner Neil Hudgell's law firm now one of the biggest in the UK.

Hull FC are in decline with yet another season of hoping that excessive spending can arrest the situation. IMO it's not going to happen. I'm sure I'll get the usual criticism but really I've said nothing that isn't true.

No the Hull College deal was only due to last until July this year so it's been very lucrative for the club and most of the £240k was retained. If it was unwise for Hull College to agree the deal that makes it very astute business for Hull KR. Rovers could have held Hull College to the deal but with Sewell Group offering another lucrative deal it was agreed that Hull College will now sponsor the West Stand.

Of course when it comes to stadium naming rights it's something Hull FC don't know anything about because you don't have a stadium, you pay rent to play at someone else's. Hull's cut of the MKM deal? Zero.

This is why Rovers are in so much stronger position than Hull. We have assets which provide income. We also have an owner who is having incredible success away from rugby and is now able to fund the purchase of the freehold to Craven Park which includes a large amount of surrounding land.

While Hull were wracking up huge losses which will continue into 2023 Rovers were actually making a profit.

You are spending big with money you don't have but Rovers won't do that. Once the purchase of the stadium is complete - not far away now - there will be MASSIVE plans for the future because the income will be there to fund it.

his bobness comments really made me chuckle. He should be working for Boris and his propaganda team.
I wonder if the Massive plans will include bringing cooper Cronk over and and possibly winning a trophy.
I personally think craven park will eventually be sold for affordable housing.

Its why Hudge has taken the club off the market
The ability to purchase the freehold from the Hull City Council and now the partnership with Sewell speaks volumes what his future intention is with the stadium if thats what you can call it.
Its built in the middle of a housing estate and was always the the wrong position for a sport ground.
I have no doubt it will be demolished for a future affordable housing scheme with the help of course of Hudge's pals at the HCC.

I stopped reading his post as soon as he said we’d signed Gale as a marquee player. Amazing how he must have such inside knowledge to be able to claim this.

Do Rovers fans realise they’ll have to play Saints and Cats etc, home and away this season?

There’s no Leigh to play theee times en route to Old Trafford this year.

Caravan Park is being bought to give Grudgell the chance to recoup some of his money that hes used to prop the club up over Gods knows how many years.
Sell some of the adjoining land off, and get some money back.
Buy the “Stadium” and put the debt onto the club (a la Glazers at Man Utd.)
Don’t forget they’re buying an ageing stadium in the middle of a housing estate. They’ll have to repair their own floodlights from now on.
His Bobbess is getting very giddy, but like I said to someone today, we could be two divisions below the Dobbins and we’d still be the bigger club.
