Only previously players I can think of off the top of my hear are Nathan Blacklock, Matt Sing & Sid Domic....seems a bit far-fetched to release a shirt for them.
Apparently it reflects the heritage and history of the city/club....I'm not so sure?
I preferred last season's Magic/Challenge Cup run shirt, best shirt we've had in year's!

I love Sid's artwork, but the shirt? Eurgh. Hate it.
But I love the idea. It'll sell shed loads. And credit to FC for the concept.

It's not about Hull's Aboriginal links, it's about the history of the club shown in the style of traditional Aboriginal art. |

| the more i think about it the more i like hutchies idea of using the 'rub of the green' shirts against rovers 
only joking, i quite like sid's shirt, what folk have to remember is aboriginie art is very abstract, for example they use a lot of symbols for common features in the landscape and everyday world. the art is often an extension of a dream or idea and most works of art have a strong story behind them. religious belief is a strong theme too - i guess you could relate this to the passionate following of the club by its fans, with the stadia seen by domic as places of worship and the shirt could be the story of his time spent in hull from debut to grand final - or it could just be bolix |

Nail on head. (Are you really an artist, btw?) Aboriginal culture is beautiful and mysterious, the known on earth represented in art as well the less tangible representations of the afterlife and spiritual world (Dreamtime) that exists in parallel with our physical and emotional selves.
Each 'symbol' used in Aboriginal painting means something and can really only be reproduced accurately by someone - like Sid - of that culture to produce a whole that actually means something, actually conveys a message. (Mr Worm has studied it extensively, makes and plays didgeridoos and has even sold a couple of canvasses, but his English dabbling would he regarded at best as meaningless but pretty patterns and drones, and at worst as blasphemy by true Aboriginals. He even approached Lee Jenkinson with a view to doing something like this some years ago, after Sid had just left. I am relieved to see that Lee saw the potential in this but chose to bypass the English pretender (could've been well dodgy with regards to the club's karma) and went straight to the true artist and interpreter.)
So although the artwork has to be produced by someone with true understanding of that culture and how to represent it in art, the principles can be applied to any concept or location, not just Dreamtime and the Outback. It is a great honour for Hull FC that Sid has agreed to describe our little world using the richness of his culture manifested in pictures.The fact that no Aboriginals currently play for us is irrelevant, it is our passion, geography, history and way of life he is describing, not his.
Will definitely be buying this shirt, it's an honour and a unique opportunity.
