| Quote: Tinkerman23 "I'd never boo or heckle a hull player and I do whole heartley give my full support to anyone in a black and white shirt, but I see what I see and after to many games , after another bad performance , I always find myself discussing westerman errors, penalties etc, people talk about him been our next captain! What a joke, maybe 20 years ago, we need a professional as our captain, and we have one in Ellis , the days of a popular member of the team who's a bit of a jack the lad, who can organise a good mickey up , is not the stuff of captains'"
What is a joke is when people can't quite get their heads around the fact he makes errors because of how he's played, he (for some reason) is put on to crash balls at the line and short sharp passes that are feigned out the back. As for penalties, he only conceded 3 more than Whiting, but he played a hell of a lot more minutes than Whiting. I think you're just seeing what you want to see.

They criticize for a reason.'"
why is it crap? people said broughy will never stick to a game plan.......look at him now, with the right guidance you can make any player a decent/good player if the player wants to succeed.

top assists for a forward
2nd in try's for a forward
Top tackle busts in the forwards
2nd tackling in the club.
2nd offloads in the club.
Two areas he needs to improve on is errors with ball in hand and discipline.'"
People just see what they want with Westy, they believe the bull that goes around and question his professionalism with absolutely no proof. Some of our fans ought to be ashamed of themselves for how they treat our players.
We used to be the best fans in the league...

| Quote: *1865* "Got any proof, or can you even remember these games he cost us? My suggestion is you're talking out of your ar$e, and you're another one of the ones that make stupid references to a fee he had nothing to do with. If you don't rate Westerman, you don't understand rugby league, ask any of his team mates or anyone in the game if he's any good.
And please don't give it the pathetic Whiting at 13 drivel, Rich doesn't even want to play there FFS.'"
Never mentioned is fee ever when slating him, to be fair, that's not his fault, and I've never even thought about, and yeh maybe I can't remember ever game he's cost us, but he does, one that springs to mind, Castleford away last season, comfortably on top, scrum they 10, first tackle he try's a stupid off load, knock on, Castleford march us down the pitch , score a try and we never recovered, granted other players need to step up, but yeh I believe that decision costs us, and it happens way to often, magic weekend 2012, came back from injury on bench , came on when hull on top, penalty, penalty, penalty westerman, cost is the game in my opinion. And as for whiting, I was only suggesting someone better than westerman, not saying he's the best 13 in the world or that he wants to play that role, but would certainly do a better job than westerman! Makes me laugh you taking critisicm about him so personally, I'd love nothing more than for him forfill is "potential" but I just don't see it happening, how long do we wait, I'd get rid, and I think after the season a lot more people will think the same. I slated him at the end of last season and got hammered on here, after a poor pre season, seems like I've a few more people agreeing! Time will tell, I honestly hope I'm wrong .

How dare you come on here with FACTS. The Westy haters won't like it as it spoils their warped view of him.

In fact, I think you'll find the trend reversing. There are a lot more people that have come to their senses about him over the last 12 months and can see that the kid is an important player in this team. He's recently been rewarded with an extension to his deal to, so it seems those at the club fall on my side of the argument, thankfully.

| Brough is where he is now because of sheer talent that was glaringly obvious to anyone watching him in the early days. I never felt indifferent to him like I do to Westerman. He also addressed his underlying issues to allow his talent to flourish into the class player he is today. I've watched Westerman stay stagnant for 3 years, failing to get a grip of himself and sulking because he wasn't being played as he wanted to be. Captain? Mwahh ha ha!

so when he was 21 he should have been the ultimate player? 3 years ago like name 1 British player at the age of 21 who got it all right? Name 1 British player at the age of 24 that gets it always right? Oh & grow up & support our players...all of them.

Hopefully, in his new role he'll have his hands on the ball more often so he can show us the skills we all know he has from his Cas days. But things you always get with Joe is passion, effort & commitment. He's always first man into the tackle and is constantly talking. He does a lot of donkey work when the teams on the back foot. He has an offload, clever late step the ability to catch out lazy defenders. He had impressive attacking stats last year without even being used as an attacking weapon.
The criticisms Joe gets most of all is the silly 'not professional' which I don't see how anyone outside the club could know and the 'He cost us £xxxxxxx' Those two I refuse to accept as legitimate.
The arguments around errors and penalties is valid, as there isn't a player in the game that [icouldn't[/i improve in this respect. But there are mitigating circumstances, especially when you're playing 80 minutes week in week out and for some strange reason you're being used as a crash forward.

What are you waffling on about? Ultimate at 21? No, you've lost me there, cherub.
As for support, I'll be yelling for Westerman in his black and white shirt same as all the other players. Like I do every - that's every - game. I just won't be expecting anything new from him, and will be holding my breath in tension every time someone passes to him in a dangerous position or he's asked to pull off a clean, strong tackle at a tense moment. I don't hate him, I just think he could do a lot better and he makes me nervous and unfailingly frustrated after he balls-up again. Seen nothing in pre-season to infer he's addressed these issues, but I'll give him every chance.
