This thread is supposed to be about today's game and the player's performances, not another petty squable between hull and rovers fans over who can the highest.
Boring.

Think we are fine at halfback, our main issue has been kicking and now we have a player who can kick long and short, think Horne and Rankin will work well, team nearly picks It's self for first game IMO.

Shaul
Lineham
Crooks
Yeaman/Arundel Yeaman for me.
Talanoa
Rankin
Horne
Paea
Houghton
Green
Ellis
Pitts
Westy

Whiting
Heremia
Feka
Watts

Id be happy enough with that team, but I feel Radford might favour Thompson over Pitts. I also think Bowden might have played himself into contention. I think he has looked better than Watts from what I've seen. He looked really strong in the tackle today I thought.

Shame we can't go with Bowden instead of Pitts or Thompson, but that would be 5 promos.

Could Green play in the backrow?

Thompson looked solid but I think Pitts has offered a bit more so far in preseason.

Positives:- Feka, Rankin, Paea, Talanoa, Whiting, Ellis and Shaul

Thought Feka ran brilliantly today! Steamrolled right over would be tacklers! Rankin ran the ball really well, could prove to be a fantastic find! Paea put some big hits in and it felt even sweeter when he scored in front of the Dobbins lot!! Talanoa looked really promising considering he isnt fully fit! Whiting and Ellis both made some brilliant runs and both solid in defence as per usual! And Jamie Shaul... what a player this kids gonna be, that take from the high ball under all that pressure was outstanding!

Honourable mentions:- both Tyson Wilsons, Arundel, Yeaman, Bowden and Stark

Negatives:- Westerman and Houghton

Although I hate the constant bashing of Westy, he did have quite a shocker today in terms of sloppy defence (ie shooting out the line and not completing tackles). Also had butter fingers at some stages of the match which I guess can be let off given the conditions. Houghton if I remember correctly threw some shocking passes. But I'm sure that's just gonna be a 1 off.

Rovers:- Thought Hall and J Hodgson had a brilliant game for them. Beharrall looks like a future star and thought Lovegrove and Cox both ran the ball well. Was Langley even playing?!

Yeah true, I didn't mean to say his entire game was a negative. Just shocked by how bad a few of his passes where.

A couple of times Houghton seemed to make passes from dummy half to players who weren't expecting it. Lack of communication or players having a rest? Also thought Bowden was at fault for going for the big hits and missing that Westy is being blamed for. I could be wrong though.

Rankin, Talanoa, Paea and Feka have all made good starts. Maybe the doomsday recruitment prophets were a tad hasty. Rankin in particular looks to have the potential to be our "go-to" player, although very early doors, obviously.

Sounds like McDonnell's not too far off, which is good news.

Puzzled as to why on here the only opinions of Westerman are that he's sublime or turd. I think he's good, but not always that effective.
