| Quote ="rugbyman_1865"Players i would consider releasing from there contracts or not renew deals.
Motu tony - maybe a bit harsh he's been out for a long time but he needs to improve, he lacks quality under the high ball but if he can get back to the form of 2006 he would be fantastic.
Chris Thorman - For me he as done enough damage, and needs a fantastic second half to the year, for me he came in for his kicking game and at times hes none existant.
Peter Cusack - Would consider giving him a new deal but he's to much like Dowes and a waste of a import position.
Lee Radford - Too many back row forwards and Lee offers the least options.
Greame Horne - Would also consider a new deal, as a utility player he has great effort and not bad player but depends on who we can get in to replace him.
I think we desperatly need a centre and a real go forward prop to replace carvell if not two.
Could also do with a full back and winger then i think we would be complete.'"
Really don't think we need another one. Calderwood, Raynor and Briscoe will be fine. If need be, Hall can play there, or we could just take a Leeds fringe player on loan again.

To be honest forgot about our massive signing of jordan tansey so forget the winger.

Lee - not good enough 3rd or 4th choice hooker don't need him
G Horne - not good enough and has no real position
Dowes - average plodder offers nothing in attack
That is quite a lot of salary cap space that could be spent a thousand times better'" TL the only one i would offer a deal to, the rest your right about, all average at best!

| Quote ="Jake the Peg"Lots of talk about agar clearing out the deadwood at the end of the season but are the deadwood? Suppose it depends how you define deadwood
The players off contract are:
Byrne - already gone but hardly deadwood
Thackray - possible deadwood but probably our best prop over the last month or two
Cusack - similar to byrne, not spectacular but deadwood?
lee - not the greatest player in the world but bags of effort and improving
whiting - one of the most consistent performers in the team but would he be a starter if we're at full strength?
Hodgson - surely can't be described as deadwood
Tony - one of our best players last season before his injury IMO
thorman - dead as wood can be but only been here a season so can't really be considered as fundamental to the problems at the club
g horne - averageness personified
maloney - looks a good prospect. SHould have had more gametime IMO
moa - waste of an improt slot
So the ones off contract can hardly be described as deadwood IMO. Unless by deadwood they mean players who are just average in which case tehre are some but not enough to fundamentally change things around unless they use the spare cap from this season to get rid of the likes of dowes, king and radford'"
thackray is a definite for next season.he's the only impact prop we have!!!!
i'd rather have him than dowes, moa or cusack

| Thorman - not good enough
Cusack - plodding workhorse, never threatens the line, waste of a quota spot
Tony - thanks for everything but time to move on
Dowes - plodding workhorse, never threatens the line
King - great servant but all good things come to an end
Whiting - great player but sadly and crucially no speed
Radford for me has been playing like a plodding prop all season and given that role I think he would offer more than both Cusack and Dowes. At least he has a presence about him.
Tommy Lee has shown enough (just) to warrant another contract and should improve with the influence of Long.
G.Horne has done a solid job without ripping up any trees but he has more pace than Whiting.
Saying this though the biggest doubt for me is the coaching team!
With no apparent ideas regarding tactics, team selection or the interchanges, I think Mr Agar is out of his depth as a SL head coach. The most important role at the club is the head coach and no amount of money should be spared in securing the best that money can buy.

Workhorses are not meant to break the line every time they run with the ball, i cant agree on people saying get rid of Dowes, great defender and works hard all the time he is on the pitch, a must keep for me.

Agree.
Kite
Lauaki
Dowes
Thackray
Maloney
Radders as cover for both prop and 2nd row. Radders will be better if he's spelled more and has a point to prove, which will be the case if he's competing with Manu/Fitz/Burnett in the 2nd row and those mentioned above at prop.

I think these two need to be given more game time and used in a proper rotation before they can be classed as deadwood. IMO they should both be given another year.

| You are talking out of your backsides regarding Yeaman, if you watch the game properly when was the last time he got a decent ball to run on too, he is one of the best three english centres in Super League with Shenton and Atkins, people really do amaze me. It was Raynor last week and Yeaman this week next week it will be Horney. pffffffff. ![Evil or Very Mad icon_evil.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_evil.gif)

The only one of those I wiould keep is Tickle, who I think wouold be one of the biggest off loaders of the ball in the league IF Hul had any support players.
Also, Yeaman! He has been living on the memory of the first half of 2006 for far too long. As someone else identified, he is a second rowers for us at the moment. He doesn't really offer anything in attact other than head down and run as hard has you can at the opposition, indictating his inability to learn and develop this overall game. Its only a couple of weeks ago that Keith Senior gave a master class in centre play by should how to make space for yourself with a change of direction when he received the ball, or the way Senior consistantly puts his winger in teh clear.
Yeamans biggest attribute is his defence, which usually cannot be faulted, but more and more he is now charging out of the line, missing his man and we are 4 more points down.
Others on this thread have dissed G Horne. Although not the greatest of players, when was the last time he let the side down?

Yeaman couldn't lace Senior and Gleesons boots.
Tony Clubb already looks a better player and Paul Sykes would get infront of Yeaman, for international call ups (along with Atkins and Shenton).
It really amazes me that just because a particular player come from Hull they are, in the eyes of some, imune from criticism. Take you B&W glasses off. It was the same with King, who, in the last 3 years, has only produced half decent performances when his next contract has depended on it.

Senior and Gleeson are better, and that's without thinking hard.
I agree that Yeaman has been starved of decent service, but even so his form has been patchy for the last few seasons.

He's the only guy who in the team who actually runs angles and takes the ball in hard everytime. Yes I admit his defence has been lacking in some games but most probably due to fatique with our great use of the interchanges.
Yeaman to be fair has struggled over the last few years (but which player hasn't?) due in part to the injury he suffered a couple of seasons ago and the fact we haven't played an expansive game of rugby for the far too long and we rarely get the ball to either of our centres or wingers.
Even if we had Folau & Hodges out there it would make little difference at present. I think we need to give our centres & wingers decent service before we start off loading them.

Yet he still seems to top our try scoring chart almost every season (currently top at the moment). We are one of the least potent attacking teams in the league and people want to get rid of our main strike weapon!!!

Getting rid of Yeaman would be absolute madness. Granted he is not playing aswell as he did 2/3 years ago but that is mainly down to getting zero service. He is actually doing quite well this season and I am not sure why so many Hull fans want to slag him off so often.

I didn't say I wanted rid of him. Used correctly he can still be a potent weapon, but as an all-round centre he's not in the top 3 English players IMO.

That for me sums up why G Horne should be let go (along with others) if we are ever going to challenge the top teams in SL.
