He threw it all away and he can't blame anyone but himself.
I seem to remember his form tailed off by the end of 2005 after he got a two year contract extension. That said I was pleased when he re-signed in 2008 as he appeared ready for a new challenge and to kick start his career. It never worked out though.

I always thought he was a talent.
Serious question as some of you did rate him at one time or another, is his attitude of his own making or down to lack of authority in laying down rules at the club.
Is he bad because or bad because he could?

I don't know whether Kear had trouble with him or not, but since he "lost the dressing room" Thackray's "form" suggests he was probably one of those involved. Peter Sharp got rid of him before his contract was up. Tony Smith then got rid of him before his contract was up. Agar stopped playing him before his contract was up and got rid. He's played for Hunslet,Halifax, Cas, Hull, Leeds, Hull, has been declared bankrupt and has something of a boozy reputation. I don't think you can pin his failure to realise his potential fully on Hull's lax discipline. |
