| Us and Saints will get one of Sailor and Lam each.
Who would we prefer?

| With regards to Lachlan Lam it certainly seems a strange one particularly with the family connection in the club but surely he must have sanctioned his agent to activate the release clause in his contract. Could it be that we have spoken to his agent and put a hypothetical vision and deal to him and he wants the opportunity to play under a coach of Cartwrights standing? There could be much bigger things at play behind the scenes at the club that non of us are privy to.
Lam would certainly be a very strong signing and much like Asiata be a real signing of intent and still leave a quota spot open if what I was told about a deal being done with Sailor is true. It would certainly change the make up of next season squad considerably.
At the end of the day SL is not the highest paid sport in the world and it is a relatively short career so if we have an opportunity and are able to offer Lam a very good deal that out guns others then we have a very good chance of completing a deal subject to the contract. Though we all know contracts seem to be pretty worthless these days.
The fact we are in for Lam should he be available must mean Trueman's position within the club is in question.
I would imagine too that we are in a good position in terms of recruitment in the sense of having plenty of cap space and marquee space available compared to the likes of St's, Catalan etc
Something like this was always going to get out so can't blame the club or Dan for reporting on it, but seems the club are damned when its all kept quiet and damned if news like this gets out.
Certainly interesting times ahead that's for sure and likely to be some real entertainment from the likes of Degsy and the great unwashed across the river

He may want Lam to play fullback, if Sailor isn't coming?

What’s the info with this? Is he willing to sit out his contract or agreed elsewhere? It seems that’s 2 seasons in a row Brisbane have been willing to move him on surprised if he stayed.

| Been a lot of confdent people across social media that we are signing Sailor, and now the news that we are making a play for Lam.
Unfortunately a very real reality that we will end up with neither be back at square one.
Would be overjoyed with just 1 of them

When we desperately needed a half for this season Tony Smith said we don't want to rush in and sign someone who is not a good fit. We need to be patient.
Thank turned out well!

Heard the same, stark reality of where we are. Hence why we are having to throw money at Lam. As a pessimist we will get neither.

| If we have set our sights on another half back, then we need to need to land Lam. Sailor, if he has chosen Saints, then we can probably find another overseas full back from the plethora of talent they have in that position over there. A half back, non-quota who knows SL, that isnt easy to find

If that's the case I'll need to slap my contact with a herring, he isn't usually too far wrong and had told me a deal was done with Sailor and not far off on Lafai but such is life and we are where we are.
However if we can indeed temp Lam to sign then that would more than temper Sailor going elsewhere, plus leave still leave us with 2 quota spots.
All is not lost as there is still a hell of a long way to go before the start of the 2025 season, think Cartwright Snr will certainly have a big impact on us regardless and hopefully make use of the remaining quota spots with some quality.

| It is becoming increasingly tiring watching us miss out on key targets, Lam will be a brutal one.
On the bright side, we have (currently) one of the young SL players of the year in Moy, a lot of pressure on young shoulders but he's progressing and making a bold statement of being our starting Full Back for 2025 so far.
A spine of Moy, Lam, Abdul, Cust and Asiata would have me thinking top 6 is on the cards.
A spine of Moy, Cust, Abdul, Borouh and Asiata would have me thinking another season of failure.

| When it comes to recruitment linking us with big names my motto is "prepare to be disappointed" and I usually am.
