Don't think Trueman is the answer to our prayers. He's been pretty poor for the last 2 seasons.
Plus I'm not a fan of his COVID stance.

I hope it’s not Trueman as he’s been pretty poor and also misses a lot of games due to back issues.
If we are to be serious challengers then no offence to Trueman but we have to do better than him as halfback signing

I'd rather us not get into a bidding war with wire and Leeds over him either.
Over inflated salaries is what's got us in this mess.

Sounds like it isn’t. Bit of an odd one, either way, for a player who’ll be 34 early next season.
I thought maybe it’d be something triggered if he played enough games during in the first 2 years, which might be unlikely anyway.

I looked back at the article on the club's website about him signing and it says "an option of a third year" but doesn't actually explicitly say in the club's favour.
I believe Luke Gale's contract triggers a second year if he reaches a number of appearances (which obviously hasn't got off to the best of starts).

| I'm torn on Trueman, 2 years ago, I would have loved him signing, but he seems to be out of form and a bit injury prone.
However you saw on Sunday what a good player he can be with a dominant pack and before his injuries he looked a very excited young player, who had a very good running and kicking game, he is a pretty strong defender too.
Personally I think it's worth the risk, would certainly be an improvement on Reynolds and potentially I long term half back for the club.
Will give us a quota place to play with too, although we might need a 7 if Gale doesn't sign again and Hookem isn't ready (Real shame he is injured, as I would have loved to see what he can do).

| To add, I wouldn't be paying a fee for him though, not sure if he out of contract.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

.... what's known in the medical world as an "issue".
“Reynolds hurt his elbow, he’s got a fracture in his elbow which he played with at the weekend and we’ll see how it goes.
...and...
“Jordan Lane hurt his back, he got lifted in a tackle and he landed on his front awkwardly and his back has ceased up over the last couple of days.
Jordan Lane had a serious back injury a few years ago.
This was bound to happen after a long term contract extension.

Or in Brett Hodgsons words both boys picked up niggles
How you can describe a fracture as a niggle ill never know
Lanes injury doesnt sound too promising either

Hodgson said ” We had some players who were carrying niggles and didn’t train towards the back end of the week, and that showed".
No mention of names, and Lane was injured in the Cas match.

Wouldn’t mind Croft to be honest from what I’ve seen of him so far.
I know Trueman was hailed as the next great talent but he’s struggled with form and injury for the past couple of years and think it would be a gamble to sign him. We need quality and players with a better injury records moving forward.

from HDM
Hodgson has confirmed his absence is due to the fracture and he admits he doesn’t know whether he’ll be looking at an extended time on the sidelines because of it.
Meanwhile, Jordan Lane picked up a back issue in the defeat at Wheldon Road.
“Both of the boys picked up niggles and it’s difficult to evaluate on a four-day turnaround this week so unfortunately they’re not available,” Hodgson said.
