| Brilliant. Thought it would happen TBH. Can't help but think it might be linked with the SMC renegotiation.
And I'm absolutely certain I had to get up and down more when it was allowed, but thanks anyway to all those suggesting I'm imagining it.

My problem is with having my £50 replica jersey soaked in beer because some numpty doesn't think before he/she celebrates. Why not make it bottles only?'"
becuase they can be thrown on the pitch I'd assume, and would have a fair bit of weight behind them when they land, pint glasses would empty en-route.

Aren't they plastic though? They don't take Coke bottles off you.

Think he means that a bottle with some liquid still in it will have a bit of weight/impact to it, whereas it's practically impossible for a plastic pint glass to still have any liquid in it once thrown.

But my point was that they don't take coke bottles off you, so why should a plastic beer bottle be any different?

Exactly

Its not, and IIRC bottles are on the list of prohibited items (on the posters by the turnstiles), just no one ever enforces that.

Because the beer bottle is more likely to be in the possession of a ed up moron?

Then if it's not enforced, why not just allow both? Which was my point in the first place.

What a brilliant idea. You could apply that to pubs for people not old enough to drink as well, and even off licences. Then there's corner shops and cigarettes as well. You might have just unwittingly solved the world's under age drinking/smoking problems.
Oh, wait a minute...
Hang on...
Yeah. Sorry, it's a no go. People could just send their mate to the bar instead.
So close.
