| Nobody could get the crowd going like paul king.
how many times when we needed to raise the tempo in a game did Kingy come steaming in at 100 mile an hour with a crunching tackle, the crowd would start singing and the whole team would lift.
I will always remember him fondly just for those few instances when he showed how passionate he was as a hull player.
None of us are perfect and if he had been born 30 years earlier people would definately be calling him a legend and complaining about the fact that we don't get characters like him anymore.

Regarding the bold points.
Absolute tosh. From the point he started to partner Greenhill at the bar he was a shadow of the player he was prior to 2002.
Your post should read, how many times did he miss the man whilst running out he line, leaving a significant gap for the opposition to glide through.
How many times did he let himself, his team mates and the fans down? The answer to that is far more often than putting in game changing performances.

I never said he was great, I just said I'll remeber him fondly because of the passion he showed and more often than not he was the player that got the crowd going.
read my lips
"Those few instances"
that's all.I'll remember those few instances rather than be a complete prick and slag him off for achieving more than I ever could

He was the player that he was. I enjoyed watching him play and as a local lad the fans always got behind him when he arrived on the pitch. When he came out of the line and got the man it lifted the side just like Yeaman does now. I personally dont give a what he did outside of the game. It was his choice and imo he did not let the fans down as that was Kingy and everyone knew that.

You've just proved the point I was making. He was a local lad and a fans favourite so lets forgive him everything eh?

Makes it just that bit special, when a local lad makes the grade, weve all dreamt it, and when we see an Hull lad on the pitch, it does lift the crowd.
Like you Seb, i enjoyed watching Kingy, never a legend, but a good lad, and what he did outside of rugby, never really concerned me, he'll have his own regrets, of that im sure, but good luck to him,and hope he enjoys his rugby at Haven!
