I think the time difference is key here .
Sydney is +10 GMT, so FC will be training around 10pm Aus time, so he could remotely monitor the performance of the players live. Data could be sent electronically overnight with and I assume Gaz Ellis will be Head of Performance to ensure the system is implemented.

Wouldn't we be better just getting in a new S&C guy fulltime to work with the club face to face all year?'"
I agree..
Clarke only joined Manly November 2023, so I imagine Manly aren't too thrilled about this consultancy job.
Maybe Clarke will fly in alongside Cartwright, and prepare everything here before , Manlys pre season starts.

| Really don't think Clarke being remote is as big of a deal than what some are making of it.
Pretty clear he has put the pre season plan together, coming over to oversee the start and then leave it in the hands of our full-time staff keeping tabs on a part-time basis.
Is, again, frustrating how we have gone about announcing this.

While its a rapdily changing world with the technology and things are now more data driven, I do think theres a practical aspect here of how does someone sat in the Manly sunshine know if the squad are following instructions correctly running up hills in the Brantingham frost?
Random example but I remember years ago Danny Ward gave an interview that a club he was playing for had started doing weekly weighins and his answer to 'losing' a couple of pounds of water weight was to have a bottle of wine the night before in that example the data would say 'weight = fine' but it woulden't tell a coach on the other side of the world that the player had potentially come in with a hangover (not that 1 bottle of wine would impact a big prop that much however)

| Manly's statement reads that he will be with them for 2025 - it doesn't say he is there beyond that. So I would be happy for 2025 to be consultancy based, and full time for the remaining 2 years

| The club could have been unambiguous, and still posted the story in a positive light.
The way they’ve presented the story is classic James Rule style.
Just have be honest. It’s not difficult.

| Those people saying he will eventually come here full time, why would he leave Manly ? It sounds like an opportunity for him to earn some extra money from a mate while keeping his main job in a much bigger market with much better resources, plus getting some free flights home from time to time. I just hope he is committed to the role, its not going to be easy doing a full days work then coming home and doing more. Especially for 3 years.

| The investment in the off field staff will be just as vital as any on field signing. It’s really been neglected over the last few years.
At least Myler is trying to do something about it.

It reminded me a little of Scarborough when I visited, albeit without any stiff North Sea breeze rolling in to your face! Plus it was considerably neater and tidier than any East Yorkshire seaside town I've ever been to!! And sunnier and warmer!
It must be very nice to live and work in the area (I was last there in November 2012), heaven knows why anyone would want to give it up for the chance to work near the glorious muddy Humber!!
The ferry trip from Sydney central out to Manly is enjoyable enough in its own right, although maybe you get used to it if you are taking it every day, either way it sure beats having to navigate your way around Hull City centre at any time of the day!!!

I found this interview with Steve Michaels pretty heartening. Trouble is I'm starting to think that if our new coach joins the ever increasing line of failures in that position, I doubt anyone can sort us out. He appears to be our best hope and will prove to be I hope an inspired appointment!

| Certainly feels like the last chance saloon to finally instill a good culture at the club.
If Cartwright can't turn it round, not sure what options will be left to try!

Depends what people want/expect Cartwright to do?
Will we be a top 4 team? No. I imagine we'll still be a bottom 6 team, but I'd like to think we'll be 'in' more games next year.
Last season was the perfect storm, a coach at the end of his shelf life and an incredibly bad recruitment cycle. No way we are that stinky next year.

| we just need someone strong to set an expectation and for everyone in the club to buy in. The FIFO principle
It can be turned around quickly if people are prepared to make some difficult decisions along the way.
We've had a succession of weak coaches or ones who basically let the players set the tone and that needs to change

I hopeful it shows that the board at Hull FC have finally found that missing piece of the puzzle and realised the importance of having a top quality Coach with a proper back room staff.
Think it was blatantly obvious early on under Smith he wasn't the right man along with Gene, for me desire was severely lacking in him and that emanated and festered throughout the club which already had issues with attitude/application.
Looking at things objectively with the information to hand Cartwright is a proven and strong Coach who has been and is still very influential at the top level of the game, he is known to be very knowledgeable of game as a whole, being a good communicator, man manager, a Coach that commands respect and does not suffer fools or people who are not prepared to put in the required effort be it during a game, training or club matter.
I'm hopeful with the arrival of Cartwright the dog will now finally wag it's tail as opposed to the tail wagging the dog.
I think the majority of fans expectations are and will be realistic for 2025 with most not expecting to challenge for a top 6 spot. I think in general we all want to see improvement in the basic skill set, the little effort areas & discipline for example along with evidence of structure being implemented in to the fabric of the on field side of the club.
Time will tell I guess if the rebuild process will be a success, but as always hope springs eternal.

| For me, I want Cartwright to instill pride in playing, passion for winning, want to be hard to beat, be in games, not have blow out scores, super fit, hard working team and still be in with a shout of the playoffs come the last round. That's what I'm wanting from him and the players.
Do all those things and you'll have the support from the fans, show we are going in the right direction and change is happening

Thought this was worth addressing even though it's over a week old now. I think I have posted about this before but if you look on Companies House, Hull FC (2011) Limited was incorporated on 12th May 2011 (originally under the name Gellaw 332 Limited). I have never really understood the nature of this but I have always presumed that this company was set up to facilitate the purchase of the actual club (Hull Super League Limited) which has Adam Pearson listed as a director/owner from 19th July 2011.
So that to me suggests that it took just over two months for AP to buy the club. But I would presume that the Hull FC (2011) Limited company was only created once talks had advanced far enough for a formal offer to be placed for the club. Who knows how long he may have been talking and negotiating prior to that. As you say, it was all kept under wraps.
To be fair to them this time, whether it's a takeover or investment, it's still been kept under wraps because we know very little. The difference this time is that we know we have been seeking investment whereas back when AP bought the club I'm not sure there was even any hints that the club might be for sale or anything like that.

The last takeover was a complete surprise, I was driving when it came on the radio and nearly crashed the car in shock. We never will know how long it took but Kath and co invested heavily in signings for 2010 (Long, O'Meley, Fitzgibbon) so presume selling wasn't being thought about until 2011.
I've also never got my head around what 'HullFC2011' is about, if it was just to facilitate the last takeover surely it would have bene shut years ago? But im not experienced with company ownership.
