Whiting puts all the effort in the world to his playing performance, but is painfully slow at this level, as was clearly evidenced by the BJB try. His positioning was questionable (thats fair enough, he is not a full back) and he is never going to break a tackle or come swooping into the attacking line, dare I say it, Like Tansey did.'"
How can I be rich agar when you are?
bjb outpaced the whole of our team but it's whiting's fault?
Did you miss the break he made when swooping into the attacking line? No one could keep up with him.
He isn't international class but he was no worse at FB on Friday than tansey was when he was here. tansey used to shiit his shorts when a bomb went up and was usually 5 metres away at least when it landed

| After the game I went to Newcastle & have just got back, so if I repeat anything that has been said & probably better] on the previous pages, I apologise.
I said after last week, that Richard Agar should consider his future & after Friday night's game, I believe that he should either 'walk away' or the good old organisation that is Hull, move him 'upstairs'.
Apart from a few, the overall performance was very poor. If the head coach has a game plan, it is not working or, the players, either do not understand it or, are not prepared to follow it. Do the players believe in Richard Agar? Are all the players trying their best? For me on Friday night there were some who seemed invisible & one or two who seemed to be just going through the motions.
The Board of Directors seem to be prepared to support the head coach @ present but I am sure that if further poor performances like Friday night's are repeated, the crowds will drop & drop heavily. Last season I went & sat with a regular group of seven, on Friday night just two of us turned up. I am not aware that the rest watched it on TV either.
Lastly...some have said give the head coach another five or six games. I say no more. If we do, we will be too far behind & the season will be over [apart from the Challenge Cup]. Rant over.

Trouble is Andrea when the team is losing there are always stories doing the rounds about players and the coach not getting, I tend to take it with a pinch of salt.

how can you say that was a decent season last year? it was bloody boring! we ended with a negative points difference. surely we deserve better then that with 9500 season passholders, maybe quins or crusaders would have been happy but i doulbt it.

Agree, last year was only thought of as decent in the context of the crap that Agar had produced in the 1 1/2 seasons prior to that. It was nowhere near enough of an achievement for it to count as something 'in the bank' against poor performances this year IMO.

Why 8-10 Paul ? we have only won 3 from the last 10 games! So far this season we have had over 60 points put past us with near full strength squad to choose from and we have only played 2 games When you read the stats which have been produced win ratios, tries scored etc it is shocking. If we wait until April as you suggest, I believe we will be lucky to get 8000 in the KC.

I always believe you start the season off fresh so imo judging on top games is too little. Agar had to improve us last year and we went from finsihing 12th to finishing 6th which in my book is good progress regardless of the style of play.
The other thing is I believe if we got rid of him then we would end up with Webbo for the rest of the season before they appointed a new coach (I don't think they would go for Noble) and I don't see Webbo being any better. People did not like the fact he got a contract so early last season which I agreed with and I also don't agree with him being sacked so early into this season.

We went from 12th to 6th regardless of how we achieved it. We deserve to be challenging for the top 4 spots imo and last season we did. We have no god given right to expect anything. Saints, Leeds, Wire and Wigan are probably the big four these days and that will take some beating, behind them are Hudds, FC and KR imo. A new coach will be tasked with getting into that top 4 the same as Agar but we have no right to be there.

As I've said before Paul, I would have agreed wit this approach if it weren't for the fact that we've started this season with the exact same shortcomings that plagued us last season - and the season before in fact. If he can't get the players fit and doing the basics right after an entire off season there's little to no chance of it happening during the season. And then there's the matter of his bizzare bench choices and rotations which are no better now than when he started.
Time enough methinks. He has to go.

I am not supporting him, my position has been clear for a while, if we want to move forward then we need to being in a better quality coach.
However I still maintain the board won't do anything too rash and in fairness we wanted a top 6 finish last season and he provided us with that. He could still see the season out and we could finish top 6 again, we don't know what will happen. I am prepared to give him 8-10 matches regardless of what other fans think. People said don't get carried away when we won our first 5 matches the other season and so I won't get carried away that we have lost our first two.

I hear what you are saying, however the games where not even close we conceded over 60 points and our defence looks like it has taken a step backwards, I consider Leeds a top game, however KR finished behind us last season only by 1 place admittedly but I do not consider them a Wigan, saints or Leeds. The thing I find the most disturbing is Agars selections/interchanges this alone suggests a coach well out of his depth.

I have always found his interchanges baffling tbh. From little bits I have heard the pressure seems to be mounting from within, it will resolve itself one way or another by either turning a corner results wise or players and manager falling out.

| Quote: Mild mannered Janitor "You seriously need to watch it again. Briscoe is so far up field trying to follow Longs kick that he is not in a position to even chase. Whiting had the turning circle of the Norland.'"
The point I was making was that Briscoe made a break in that game and BJB made up a fair bit of distance to chase him down. He's very quick. If one of our fastest wingers gets chased down by BJB, it's a little unfair not to expect Whiting to be beaten for pace too. Would Wellens have stopped him from there? I doubt it.
The other point is, if our kick chase had been anything like effective, BJB wouldn't have been given the opportunity to get into full stride and beat Whiting. To lay the blame for that try at Whiting's door is massively wide of the mark.
