Pretty soon I will be cancelling Sky Sports as there is no such thing EXCEPT our beloved RL.If that goes then what are we paying for ?
Maybe SKY could see the benefit & up their contract to reduce the damage done by no gate receipts. We could even recruit many more fans ?
Fully appreciate the many difficulties of Virus within squads, no doubt tournament devalued but wouldn't that be better than NO sport, and the potential longer term damage to our beloved game ?'"
Don't think playing behind closed doors would be an option to be honest as can't think of many clubs in RL that could sustain/afford to lose the revenue stream from the money brought in through ticket sales. In fact other than the premier league and maybe a handful of Championship clubs I can't see many sports being able to stay afloat without match day ticket sales.

| Not suggesting this would be a good outcome, fully expect at least a 3/4 week break, but if the virus still active then ????

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| Quote: HDM "It’s our understanding that Super League owners have agreed to suspend the competition until April 3rd at the earliest following a meeting in Huddersfield today.
All levels of the game will be shut down for the next three weeks, with the RFL and Super League reviewing their position again closer to the provisional start date.
The news comes as prime minister Boris Johnson has issued a new directive today that everyone in the country should avoid social contact with others to stop non-essential travel to fight coronavirus.'"

| Out of the bad comes some good, at least injured players will have time to get fit.

Some clubs are going to seriously struggle with no gate receipts for at least two months and I would imagine it will be even longer than that.

He also said he's confident we'll be fine if we have the continued support from the sponsors and fans.

What does continued support from the fan mean if there are no games - merchandise/lottery etc?

For the whole sport... and economy and population.
On RL, I reckon the early April best case restart is unlikely to say the least.

Not demanding refunds (sponsors or fans), maybe?
Are Sky obliged to keep paying? Be interesting to know how many subscribers Sky sports is losing.

Completely agree MR. We're some time off the peak by the looks of it.

He didn't give specifics with regards to fans but Sky was mentioned and said at some point they need a product to show on TV. That wasn't just aimed at RL but all sports that rely on Sky.

| My thoughts would be a deal with sky that if we play behind closed doors maybe they could give clubs a financial consideration, i mean the other night cas v saints never seen so much advertising as it was only sport aound.
Could be a great time to really grow our sport if w could get some games on.
Really diffcult times ahead

| From what I hear, its the threat of sponsors pulling back their money, demanding refunds as they wont be getting TV exposure or advertising. SKY potentially pulling money due to no games to show. Its going to be a tricky few weeks.
I had a thought that if every passholder donated 20quid, then that could be upto 160k - which could be vital towards the survival of the club
