| It was obvious that Thorman was putting every effort into his performance tonight. It didn't really improve his execution, but he was trying.
Why, therefore, hasn't he been doing that before, especially at Leeds?

| One of if not our best player on the night.
Still has to put in a minimum of that kind of performance in every game for the rest of the season to even remotely have a case to stay on though.

| Thorman tried hard and couldn't be faulted for his effort. He played better than his half back partner. At this level you have to do it week in week out though not just as a reaction to some balls up the previous week.

| Thorman and Thackray best players tonight. Burnett first hour or so did good but just tired.
Horne was very poor.
If Thorman played like that for the rest of the season well worthy of a new deal for a year as back up.

What class was that then? kicking out on the full, dropped the ball twice, obstructed his own players twice and missed more tackles last night than Thorman. And don't even mention the goal kicking.
If Long had been playing for Hull last night he'd have been slated for that display.
I'm not a lover of Thorman but I thought he had a go last night and if he (and Horne) had more/better options in regards of support players etc we'd have had a little more success.

To be fair,i.m.o. Longs kicking for conversions has never been in the top ten, but the guy is class all the same. Some of his distribution last night was top drawer. It must have felt a bit strange for him, knowing he was playing against (some) of his future team mates.

I agree, I'm not slagging him off, this was mainly a comparison between the displays of the half backs on show last night.
Some of his distribution last night was top drawer.
Again I agree, though the quality of support players do make a difference.

I like the sound of [ithat[/i word right now.

| I thought Thorman played OK given the fact the team have no gameplan. Some sets of six he didn't even touch the ball. Credit to him for his response following his horror show the week before.

| The crowd don't get on someones back for the hell of it, you could sense them willing him to do well last night. He got a generous round of applause on a few occasions. We slag him off on here when he's had a stinker so it's only fair to praise him when he had a better game and that was the case last night.

Was really pleased with the reaction of the crowd, willing him to do well. Didnt hear a single boo. Hopefully Thorman will kick on from that.
Was noticable last night that he started to defend on the outside shoulder of his man to meet him chest on for the tackle. Vs Leeds he was on the inside shoulder and kept getting swatted off. Obviously worked hard in training.

The most astute post on the thread. Thorman has been dragged through the dirt by the witch hunt posse who year on year like to have a singular scapegoat to flay. He had one awful game against Leeds and all his other game he's been on a par with the most of the other players. He did have a better game than Long last night but of course we've just signed Long so whatever he does it's brilliant. Long will get pasted week in week out if our team plays anything like this season and no doubt most on here will single out R.Horne or someone else as the reason for it, that is until the season after when it will probably be Long's turn to be the scapegoat.

This is just not right. He's been consistently poor for most of the season. Even the most basic elements his position demands have been delivered with a level of ineptitude impossible to carry at this level.

Nail on the head, basic elements like passing, kicking and tackling.
