| I apologise for the desperate comment yesterday, a better word would have been badly timed, the Carvell one I can understand, the opportunity has arisen and he is a quality forward who probably has a good year left in him, the Gale and Mason ones seem very knee jerk and not signings many of you would have welcomed prior to the preseason performances.
How would getting rid of Miller work? If some are to be believed he is on a sizeable contract which has 1 or 2 years to run. Would this mean a pay off and if so would this come off the cap as the season has already started?
Can’t see him walking of his own accord, will be similar with McD

| With all due respect do you not think this is asset stripping a club.

tough, it's business. You weren't saying that when you were all waving sponge fingers and celebrating stealing Harris

| If neither Miller nor McDonnell play a league game then any pay off wouldn't count in the cap.
I hope Gale turns us down (although it looks unlikely), as that would mean keeping Jacob, who for me deserves a chance.

Mason I agree, but we are a bit desperate in the prop department due to Green and Watts having rumored long term injuries.
Gale is a strange one, maybe Miller wants out and we dont want to be left with horne and Rankin as our only senior halfbacks.
Biggest disappointment for me, is why have we left this so late, 4 days before the season starts is not good planning at all.

I'm wondering if Miller wants out to go home?

| I applaud the club for being proactive in this situation even without the injuries I would like to think if a player of Carvell's quality becomes available then they would look to explore the situation and not stand by waiting for a rival club to snap them up.
The Gale situation, again why not try and add to the squad keep Miller which I understand they would rather do as he has 2yrs left. As I understand it we have room to do this within the cap.
Mason, well that's a new one on me but again if we can do it why not a hard man with a vast amount of experience.

| I know 'first hand' Miller wants to stay at Hull. He's enjoying his time over here.

| If Miller wants to stay it seems a strange decision to replace him with Gale.
Last seaosn despite playing less games he scored more trys, has as many assists, more tackle busts and clean breaks than Gale.

Agreed on the leaving it late but in many respects Radders hands were tied when he came in as we were already close to the cap. Who has come in since Radders took the reigns? Mickey P was close to a done deal (no complaints from anybody on that one) Feka (hopefully on the cheap and could be ok), Tuson (happy with), Biggs (jury's out) & Rankin (we went for Gale 1st but Bradford knocked us back, Bradford then offered him last month when we had already tied up Rankin).
Not Radders fault that funds appear to have come available so late in the day, presumably following McDonnels set back in his rehab meaning he faces a further long layoff. Seems Miller could also be on his way which does seem a tad unfair as he's not been given long enough, but maybe the kid is homesick? or maybe Radders just doesn't rate him (played with the kids in 2nd half at Fev).
If Radders now lands Carvell, Gale & Mason (as a 1 yr stop gap) then I think that is some good business albeit on the eve of the season starting.
Gentle signings putting Ellis aside were Pitts, Watts, Miller, McDonnell, J Crookes, Arundel, Thompson, all with supposedly inflated salaries, think the blame probably lies at Gentle / Bombers door. Yes AP signed the cheques but he was relying on his DOR and Coach to advise him as he was new to the sport, becoming clear why PG was shown the door when many thought he should have been given a further year.
Anyway causing lots of discussion on year and column inches in the daily rags, might even add another 100 to the gate on Friday....

I don't know the kid but I know a couple of people who do and all I hear is how he seems to be happy espcially now rankins hear who he was a major part in convincing him to come. Still you never know.

| I am disappointed with our last minute recruitment but acknowledge the quality of some of the targets.
Many of the people on this board have believed for months that we were at least one prop short and given that injuries are inevitable I don't know why the coaching staff didn't see this.
We were supposed to be in effect swapping Lynch for Jonathan Walker but when the Walker deal fell through we still let Lynch go. Why?
Carvell is still undoubtedly quality and Mason is vastly experienced but I don't know how many miles he has left in him.
I accept that Radford tried to sign Gale some time ago. He is a proper half back but not a world beater and none of the top clubs would be interested in him.
I don't think he has ever rated Miller nor given him a fair chance. If he didn't see a future at the club for Miller when he was appointed then the situation should have been addressed then IMO.
