| Quote: Standee "the cap will force their hands, Horne isn't good enough now, even in his prime he was never creative as a half back, he's a no trick pony, I am glad he recovered fromhis injury and I think he's a top "bloke", but he isn't a top 2 player.
There's a reason he was picked for GB on the wing, he's not a great halfback.'"
That's no support of your argument at all IMO, Leon Pryce played on the wing for GB and he's quite clearly a very good stand-off.

And of course Horne played in the halfs for gb.
He seems to be doing well this season.

That's your opinion, anyway, this thread is about the future and players like Ellis.

So you don't think Pryce is a good halfback either?
Would suggest that your view on Horne is less about his qualities and more about your inability to spot a decent halfback.

Had a chat today with the same source who infomed me at the time we had snatched Seymour from the Bulls before it was announced...he seems to think we may sign Finch for next year....I dismissed it initially but Finch is out of contract at the end of the year...and has stated in the press this week he wants to stay in Super League but admits Wane is looking to promote young British players....not sure how much cash he would ask for or where this would leave us quota wise but in my book if we off loaded Horne personally I'd see Finch as an improvement in that position?

He in the best form we've seen for several seasons IMO. I would still look to replace him at the end of his contract, though.
I do agree with the opinion that he is not the player he once was, what I find silly is claiming he was never good in the first place.

What a signing that would be.

I think IL has just been on radio saying he wanted to keep Finch, we'd have quota room though.
Hornes contracted, unless somebody offers him a good 2 year deal at the end of the season I can't see him leaving.

Never said he wasn't good, he's never been great, just my opinion.
We've carried mediocrity in the club for years, hopefully that era is at an end.

You said he's never been good enough, this post says he's never been great. To be consistent, that means that you only think a club can be amongst the contenders with a great stand off, then?
If that's the case, I think you're wrong. At his best he was good enough for us to challenge if not be the best.

| Some good rumours on here, keep it up. Was gullible anyway, but the signing of Ellis means any rumour, however ludicrous, is fair game. Had trouble with my new sig, too. Original version was over 3000 characters so serious editing required. He sounds quite good.

| It's ludicrous to suggest Horne was never a great half back, because he was. He is having a good season this year, better then the past few already. Open your eyes and be happy for a Hull player playing well!

I heard Johnson some time ago for next season.

Very important word is the one highlighted. He's a very good player that had a great season.
He's started the season well, but let's not be fooled, he's not good enough a halfback for a team looking to establish itself as a top 2 side. Look at the 6's of the top teams over the last few years: Briers, McGuire, Pryce, Sinfield was there most of last year for Leeds, Tomkins (when he played there)and now Finch. He's not a patch on any of those.
I think there are people on here that go a bit too far with the Horne bashing, for some reason, but he can't give us what we need anymore.
