Catalan have just signed Whitehead on a one year deal or dont they exist at Hull FC?'"
That's Whitehead's choice to accept that.
We don't know the complexities of the contracts Hull have offered. They could be all sorts of clauses inserted or even reduced terms in the 2nd year.
The fact is none of us know and so there's no point getting out knickers in a twist over it.
Whilst not overly enamoured with our signings from Leigh ( Asiata aside) we must for now be patient and give Myler our trust and see what our squad looks like for next season.

Wonder if Rowley maybe the next Salford Coach to take the reigns at Huddersfield? Looks like Leeds and Huddersfield will now be battling it out in the Coach market.'"
I would have put my money on Rowley been Leeds next head coach, but allegedly Arthur is rumoured to be taking the Perth job when they get into the NRL in 2027. So maybe he’ll do 2025 at Leeds before returning in 2026 so get the Perth franchise ready.

| Quote: Jake the Peg "Who says we're not still mismanaging the cap with these new signings? With the current squad signed up for next year and supposed large contracts off the books in the likes of hoy, brown, carlos and houghton (maybe Ok and Pele too), we don't seem to have signed much in the way of quality to replace them so surely we can't be anywhere near cap currently with signings announced/mooted'"
There is reason we haven't signed top quality federation players, they either aren't available
, already signed elsewhere or choose to sign for a more attractive club like Whitehead
What exactly do you want Myler to do?

Nu Brown signed a one year deal at Hull and that went well didn't it.
Don't get so worried about contract lengths. How many players have left before the end of their contracts? Just in the last couple of years Evans, Griffin, Clifford, Hoy, McIntosh, Pele, Nu Brown, Jack Brown, Okunbor and Sutcliffe soon.

Seen the same..
Would make sense if he isn't injured. Also saw that Watson blocked Connor coming to us on loan.
How many quota spots do we have now Ok has gone 2/3 curreny available?

We've got 2 spare
Ese'ese, Sao, Cartwright, Cust, Asiata.
Assume we sign Sailor as the fullback and an overseas outside back

| Quote: bonaire "sorry Chris i dont agree that the deals had to be longer to facilitate players living locally
The club have had to rent houses in the past so no reason why this could not have been part of sales package. We are way below cap anyway so renting a house or two for say£1000 per month is hardly going to break the cap.
Like i said 1 year deals with an extension in the clubs favour would have been far more sensible and we dont know whether it would have been acceptable to the players or not'"
I agree the club have rented houses in the past but its not always simply about the accommodation more the whole uprooting their family. If they have a wife/partner with a job and kids settled in a school and doing well and a settled family/social life they aren’t likely to uproot for a 1 year deal, I know I wouldn’t do it for a 1 year deal. That’s why I’ve suggested there may have been a trade off.
Dont get me wrong I’m not particularly enthralled with the signings so far but it’s fair to say by the time we could do much and offer deals the better options on the market had secured deals elsewhere.
At the end of the day we don’t know what the deals agreed are with any of the players but I assume due to the mention of poor cap value and management that’s an area that is being addressed with moving on so many players still with current deals. Sorting the mess out we were and still are in was and is the priority I would say.
There’s no doubt we still lack genuine quality and I don’t get the logic of signing Cust unless Cartwright based on his experience of working with him feels he will be a good addition.
Time will tell come the start of next season as whether it’s been a good start to a complete rebuild or not.

I would assume the logic of signing Cust and a fullback who can play 6 is that they are trying to move Trueman on.

| So if the rumoured comings and goings are true for next year currently we have these "senior" players I think; mixed with more youngsters
Full Back
Moy, Litten, Hardaker, Aussie?
Wing
Baron, Martin, Briscoe, Tindall? - probably going
Centre
Hardaker, Chamberlain, lafai/mcdonald?
Halfs
Abdul, Cust, Trueman - maybe leaving (Unlikely I think)
Props
Ashworth, Sao, Fash, Herman, Aydin
Hookers
Burough, Balmforth, cust
Back Row
Asiata, Cartwright, Stavely, Lane, Holmes
Anyone I've missed? Still a lack of quality but also a lack of depth, particularly in the forwards
