The kid has played every game apart from one I think it was., when those around him were busy getting sent off. He’s tackled his heart out, had to play in numerous positions to cover for others. If his team mates would have put as much in then we may well have done a tad better.
So yes that is why he was voted for.
I’m not saying he’s a world beater either. We all know why we finished bottom , the squad of 50 plus were just not good enough.
Ese Ese outstanding and caught the eye but for all round effort I’d have to agree lane was stand out. |

Hardaker is a decent centre. He might have played more at fullback but he’s simply better than what we have at centre. Richie Barnett played almost all his a career as a fullback and was one of our best centres of the modern era. Gary Connolly is another, Greg Inglis, Latrell Mitchell, Joey Manu are off the top of my head and probably hundreds over the years have played both positions well.
Rapana can play fullback. He’s played there this season at NRL level. He has loads of experience and has a strong kick return, it’s a natural progression. If say Moy has an absolute beast of an off season I’m sure we’ll see Rapana on the wing again at some point but he’ll likely start the season as our best fullback.
Cust I’m not going to argue as a great signing, but he can play hooker at decent level. He did for Wigan, I just don’t think that can be argued. Just because you say ‘he’s a halfback’ doesn’t change that, but like I say Cust is an odd one on every level, I think the coach wants him here for whatever reason.'"
Yes, lots of players change positions but we've signed 2 players at the ends of their careers who have moved away from their long held positions recently. It would have been far better to play hardaker at full back and sign an actual centreminwhat is probably our weakest position. No one is going to convince me, or any other objective person, that hardaker and Chamberlain are anything other than a bottom 2 or 3 superleague centre partnership |

Hardraker has played over 100 times at the top level at , think he will be fine, nit sure he has the link play to play fullback anymore.
If Rapana is good enough to play fullback (and play really well) for most of the season in the NRL, I'm sure he will go well there in SL.
Cust is an odd one, but at least Cartwright has coached him and maybe sees that he would be a useful signing at halfback or 9.

An interview with IMG has revealed the TV deal went from £40m a year to 21.5m and of course SKY now getting to show every game...great work from the administrators as always.
Never mind a new investor at HullFC the whole sport needs a new investor or it'll go to go part time.

That’s shocking and further example of the inability of the marketing dept and CEO’s at RFL to sell the sport at any sufficient level if at all.
Then they and club owners wonder why the sport is creaking dangerously. Still no faith nor convinced that IMG will make any impact in terms of improving the financial aspect or moving it forward. |

As you all know for me the jury is still very much out on him, for whatever he says coaches if they are worth their salt can really influence a group of players and if they can't they shouldn't be in the role. He's obviously going to be here next season and as such, we'd all better get on with it. I'd have loved Ryan Sheridan myself, as I really rate him and the way he goes about his business. However it will be interesting to see how he goes, interacts with Lasty and our new head coach, who if he is as tough as he's made out to be will be assessing his co-coaches as well as his wards on the field and hopefully acting as necessary

For me personally after such a horrendous season even though Grix was only an interim I'd have said thanks for your efforts and parted ways. He was brought in by Smith and he has certain foibles that are very Smithesque so I'd have preferred that complete break. As the Leader of a group for me he failed the audition and he seemed to come across as a negative character and quite defeatest a number of times.
Maybe Cartwright has seen something in him and is prepared to give him a chance under his tutelage.
As you say if Cartwright is indeed the Coach as reported that has exacting standards and demands on his personnel then it's likely he stands up to the task or will be gone. |

I think when interviewed after games most of which we were battered its hard to be upbeat and if he was hed get criticised! Was unaware of player influence in the changing room. But we dont know detail. On the face of it he hasnt done great but he has gained a lot and hopefully this will benefit Hull next season |

Lots of people quick to point the finger at IMG, but forget that the RFL was struggling in the first place, hence the need to bring them in

This article is really good and puts a bit more context to IMGs plans for the sport. The TV deal was always going to go down with a product that was getting a bit stale and no real competition for bidding rights, why would sky need to pay more than £21m if they don't need to? The real test of IMGs success will be seeing what the TV deal is at the end of 2026? When the current one runs out. Getting all the games on TV is a good step, the next one should be to stagger the kick off times so every one kicks off at a different time and try get more on the main sky channels and off sky sports+ |
