One of the biggest plebs in rugby league is Watson. Can’t stand the bloke.

Quote: Steve0 "The club can do no wrong in people's eyes, if you went back a year you'd have people backing the club replacing Swift for Tindall, supporting the signing of Okunbor despite his off field antics, thinking Pele was just what we needed to add some size up front, Morgan Smith would be bargain buy of the season, Nu Brown would be brilliant because he played once for the kiwis etc, people can and should be allowed to be sceptical because there's a high chance we'll be in this exact situation again this time next year with bang average recruitment'"

These are the ones who keep telling critics that we dont know anything about R/L

Quote: Dave K. "OK, I should have said teams around us, Leeds, Leigh, Salford, Cas. Teams I think we could realistically catch next season. Broadbent signed 2 years ago, the twins one at the start, one mid season, so no recruitment for 2025, none of these teams apart from Burgess fir Hudds have signed an federation players of any note.

We had two choices, stick with what we had or bring in new players, think we have gone OK on the domestic front and looking at position and and timings of Myler etc, not sure how we could have done much better. Maybe someone like Corey Hall over Hardraker, but he he isn't exactly a world beater and we have lots of young players with potential.

But the market is poor thos year, particularly if you start late.

What else could the club have done, we tired for Sneyd, O Connor etc, but they wouldn't be released or choose to stay. Most players will choose other clubs over us sadly until we improve on the pitch.'"

I could have accepted the logic of the Leigh signings had the club insisted on 1 year deals with an option of a further year in the clubs favour.Whether that would have been accepted we will never know but two years is too long and restricts what the club can now do in the 2026 market when that season should have been when we started to breakthrough into the top six once again. We would also be in a better position to see who from the younger players will make the grade as regular S/L players.and who will fall by the wayside

Quote: Hullrealist "Dave is right about how hard it is to sign federation players. That’s why it not be popular but fc need to make a play for Bateman or Sutton.

Bringing Bateman and Lewis Murphy to SL would be massive. Murphy has real pace and I’m suspect about Barron. Martin & Murphy would be a class duo for years to come.

Bateman is not the player he was but you don’t become poor overnight. He’s a winner and would add the aggression we need.

If you got those 2 in and someone like Sailor and Nui we would actually be a play off side

Sad reality is I don’t think we will get any of them'"

Can't say I'm surprised after the amount of money he's been given by Ken Davy, to say they have underachieved is being polite. Wonder if Rowley maybe the next Salford Coach to take the reigns at Huddersfield? Looks like Leeds and Huddersfield will now be battling it out in the Coach market.

Rowley moving to Hudds would feel like a side if not backwards step. I'd be interested to see if he could replicate his style at a big club like Leeds

I agree with what you say in terms of the length of deals handed out but if the club are deadset on players living more locally then there will have to be a trade off in terms of attracting players to do that and relocating without giving out ridiculous deals like we had under Clark. I doubt offering one year deals would have been enough and its probably a mixture of that as well as the monetary side of things too.
I'm sure if we offered way over the odds for a 1 year deal you'd get players but that would be mismanaging the cap once again. We just don't know the details or numbers in terms of the deals agreed for each signing but it would seem that the club are now being sensible in only offering what WE as a club value them as.

Then they wouldn't have accepted the deal and we would be stuck with same players, not sure you have thought this through.
