Thought Middleton said they were going to learn from their previous mistakes. Really does seem like a move out of desperation than anything. Burgess may have been a great leader as a player but has little experience at top level as an assistant coach let alone a head coach. I’d say Ellis is and was a better leader than Burgess as a player but it hasn’t necessarily transitioned to him in the coaching role.
Really can’t see it going that well.

Looking more likely he's parted ways with Fev, wonder if that has made the promotion race from the championship wide open?

| Still find it bizarre that they have appointed him, how long has been an assistant coach at Souths?

Why he's been coached by the best in the world so will have learned alot
He's been one of the best players in the world and one of the most famous RL players last 15 years
The players will respect him if he can motivate them its a good choice
Appointing likes of last, Paul Rowley or some aussie assistant lacks of a bit of ambition and doesn't always work so why not try something different ?
Daryl Powell is experienced and he flopped

Surely that’s flawed logic as there are many top class players who have played at the highest level, been coached by some of the games greats and are highly respected but that doesn’t transition into being good coaches and not just RL in many sports.
It’s one hell of a gamble by Warrington to go with an inexperienced coach when they have some big issues in the club that I would say echo our own over the past few seasons.
Thankfully we now seem to have made the right decision to bring in an experienced coach that know how to rebuild a club & squad.
Think there’s a big difference bringing in an inexperienced guy when a team is going well to one that anyone can see has problems within.

Why, its pretty simple, because good players no matter how good and who they have been coached by dont always make good coaches, there are thousands of examples in sport all over the world.
This is a big job, probably SL's most pressured position.
Massive gamble by Warrington
