| Mrs Barista,I am disappointed.Usually,I really respect your comments/ opinions and agree with your posts.
Craig Hall can be a magical player with the right support and COACHING.We know his defence can be suspect, but he has also pulled off tackles which have been impressive.Surely the debate has to be about Agar and his apparent inability to get the best out of the players and understand basic tactics.Anyway,at least we can watch Dr Who!
It's got a lot bigger than individual players for me.
And as for the criticism of Blacklock from whoever it was,it deserves no response.

don't see why your including Calderwood in that, he was one of the few players trying last season.
he's just been very unlucky with injury this season IMO

| I was always giving Hall the benefit of the doubt, but after today enough is enough, he leaves the defence line to attempt intercepts that never come off, can't hold his man and wrap him up in defence, and now can't get a conversion even though he's practically in front of the sticks. Time to take his marching orders.

It is a lot bigger than individual players, quite correct. But Hall is one OOC player who's created a debate on here precisely because of the contrast between glimpses of excellence in attack and consistently substandard defence and positioning. Some, like you, continue to claim he's "magical" and it's all Agar's fault. That's your opinion and you're fully entitled to it. Some, like me, think he's been given 60 odd first team games but is still a defensive weak link that well-organised teams, even cellar-dwellers like Quins, can exploit. With 4 players to cover centre already on the books for 2011, I wouldn't give him a new contract.
As I've already said, the acid test of the opinions of the "magical under another coach" group will be how many top 4 clubs are competing for his signature.
Our key problem, as you acknowledge, is the coaching set-up, which is already being debated at length on other threads, and which, IMO is a complete shambles.

My feelings exactly, used to think he was a really good prospect. Hes had his chances and has remained a weak link

The sad fact is that whether it's Agar's fault or not, the damage appears to be done. I said several weeks ago that Hall needs to leave as much for his sake as anything else, and I'm still of that opinion. It's a shame, because I still think he has natural ability in attack and I really want to see a player like that in the centres for us. But I just don't think it's ever going to happen for him here - and certainly never while Agar is coach.

| Shouldn't play for Hull again in my opinion.
We should play literally anyone else, certainly Cunningham from U20s could have a go, see if he has the desire to be a Super League player because Craig Hall clearly doesn't.
He seems to think it's OK to just throw the ball away. Well it is if you're playing touch and pass on the park with your mates, but not at this level.
That's before we even start on his appalling defence which costs the team tries time and time again.

In Hall's case he doesn't have the mental strength to make it at the top in my view. Agar might have done better but Hall has not grasped his chances and continues to make the same errors with and without the ball week in and week out. He's another who has played loads of games and never improves. It's Hull FC that needs him to move on as soon as possible because his performance today, and many, many this year particularly defensively, but also his lack of responsibility to the team in the way he fails to respect possession, are not up to the required standard. I don't accept this argument that he has been hard done to in some way - if he had it we would already know.
Yeaman has his faults, and isn't the world's greatest, (although dare I say it he appears to be addressing one of the main ones this season even with Agar in charge) but he is a different class to Hall.

Pretty much agree with that.

I wouldn't say he'd been hard done to as such. He's been unfortunate to have been moved around to cover injuries, but he's hardly unique in the squad in that regard. And I think a better coach would have done better with him, but again, others have had the same coach to cope with.
