My concern, which IMO is backed up by the available evidence, is that Agar is one of those coaches who is a great assistant but just doesn't have what it takes to be head coach.'"
Now that is a point I will agree with you on, as I said before he is the Brian Kidd of RL.

I wasn't having a pop - what I meant was that I don't know what is true and what isn't. I know that they are friends but I think it unlikely that the board would take on the added expense of an additional "coach" because their current choice wasn't confident enough to do the job himself. Perceptions and rumours often have the habit of eventually being believed to be facts.

| Quote Chris71="Chris71"Sorry I may have confused the issue, I'm not saying we should be competing for 3rd place far from it. What I am trying to say is the team should be able to compete with the teams lying above them from 4th down more than they have this season if the application etc had been better.'"
That does clarify things, and we're probably not too far away from agreement. We should have been competing better all round this season, although TBF one or two losses have been narrow. Some of that is down to a poor attitude from some of the players, but a large chunk of it needs to be placed at Agar's door. He's failed to make the best of a bad job IMO, although it does appear that he might have been trying to do so with one hand tied behind his back...

| Quote Kosh="Kosh"I'd agree with most of that, although it was said at the time that Agar asked for Sharp to come in order to add some experience to the coaching team.
And here is where I have to disagree.
We didn't see what Agar was capable of at all. By his own admission he did next to nothing following Kear's departure and the upturn in form was down to the players deciding to play again. Sharp came in just a few games later and was here for the whole of the run to the GF.
My concern, which IMO is backed up by the available evidence, is that Agar is one of those coaches who is a great assistant but just doesn't have what it takes to be head coach.'"
I echo that sentiment - I just don't think he's had the best luck as a coach this season.... so far..... and I'd prefer to judge him when he has had a half-decent and fit squad to choose from. There are still a few games left and people are returning from injury and one of his major "impact" signings isn't far away from being ready. With a fair wind and a couple of wins in the next two games and the season could look a little different so we might be able to judge him this year

Ha, I'd rather have a Grade C license and a decent coach! Doubt any club will take a leaf out of our book and back a useless coach like Agar!

Yup, it amazes me the mediocrity that people will stand for, and how ready they are to make excuses for other people inability.
How far into next season do we give Agar then, 6 games, 12...?

Sorry bud but im going to have to agree with Standee on this. The reason people are not having ago at morgan is because he has put together an average squad and is given the fans great entertainment and winning alot of games and doing fc over more times then not.
And we as Hull fc fans where in a grandfinal not so long back and now we are struggling to get into the top 8!!!

| Id honestly say that for the past 2 seasons the main problem, possibly even leading to our injury problem, is that of morale, or attitude, the core of our players just dont seem to care, and that is just unacceptable, however, Agar should be making them care, even if it is just with the threat of losing their job, and that is not happening

And possibly be replaced by Widnes, or one of the other teams getting their acts together, in two years time because their bid for a franchise is better than FC's?
Believe me, I would rather we were flying high at the top of SL because, believe it or not, I'm an FC supporter just like you are an FC supporter. Sometimes things take time and sometimes there are mitigating circumstances. When the substantial injuries, deadwood, visa problems are no longer an issue - then we can all judge more fairly.
