The kid is already Englands academy hooker, he has been at FC since he was twelve and the club made a poor offer. Local players get poor money whilst others like projects get £40K+'"
TBH I take this claim with a pinch of salt like I do every other one on here. Although even if true I don't see what the drama is all about.
And you've just said that we couldn't afford to offer him more as the cap is just about full for next year. Which will make a nice change from this season.

If you mean Moa then you are wrong Ian, he is not on anywhere near that kind of money.

Correct. Moa is on between £20k and £25k.

I rather thought that figure was pure fantasy.

I was thinking of the other project ..................Hutch and I know he was on a lot more then £40 K as well
Moa is on more then Josh Hodgson was on , in fact Josh was offered the same for next year as this.
I am just concerned yet again that the club are leaking/spinning answers that in the fullness of time are proved not to be true.

houghton ,i just can not see the logic of developing a player since he was 12 and then offering such a poor deal the lad goes to your bitter rivals ,you might as well have said where releasing you and saved the embarresment ,its typical of the current managment of the club ,and i dont enjoy having a go tbh'"
The club obviously feel that they are well covered in the hooking role so i dont understand why we should sign him just because he has been at the club since he was 12 or because he might go to rovers.
Surely you'd rather have a sucessful team than a team full of home grown players???

TBH Ian the only comment I've seen from the club about Hodgson leaving was Agar's piece in the mail. That didn't read like any kind of 'spin', just his usual ramblings.
And the bit about Hodgson wanting first team football has come from other sources than the club.

| I'd have liked to see us sign 26 hookers on £61538.46p each per season but it was never going to happen.

Only as long as they were young and from Hull, mind. Oh - and preferably with some other family connection to the club.

I would have expected Josh to be on similar money again next season, he has hardly figured in the first team so it does not warrant any real kind of rise. It's a shame to lose the kid but we need balance in the squad and Hull are clearly making moves to kep the young players they want at the club with the likes of Briscoe x 2 signing along with Tuffour etc. Maybe Josh was swayed by bigger money right now from Rovers and if so then that is upto him.

| Here we go again.................
Look its sod all to do with wanting 4 hookers, Tommy has not been offered a contract so that leaves Berro Houghton and Hodgson. Hardly difficult to see that we may need three hookers as we use two in most matches these days. Its sod all to do with his dad being ex FC or being a Hull lad. The fact is this club has of late opted to offer/pay local players a lot less then there Antipidean counterparts.
A young and promising player has left the club because the club has no money to spare to pay him even a half decent wage to live on. I would say the same about the Briscoe brother and they come from West Yorkshire.
My arguement is about talent being released/leaving because of a lack of money, anything else is being injected into the debate by other people. Simple fact is we have a large number of players on large slices of cap and its starting to hurt the fringe players. My worry is that is that we are going for a quick fix next year at the expense of our long term future and that is never a good idea. The squad is going to be smaller then this year and we are thread bare now, my bet is we would have needed Josh next year at some point and an extra 5 or 6 k would have broke the bank then we really are in a bad state.

If true, that's a disgrace. He could earn more than that at mcdonalds. Hopefully this may be a positive of the dobbins being in SL that the club stops taking the pi ss out of the local kids

Didn't hodgson fall into the group of players who are exempt from teh cap due to only playing a small number of 1st team games?

i agree everyone deserves a decent wage ,if we carnt pay a kid what he is worth then good on him for going else where even if its KR ,we should pay some of the top pros at the club by results then there would be plenty of cash for the kids ,put Mr Hull FC R Horne at the top of that long list

| looking at the Jordan Turner senario if you had offered Josh Hogdson a deal equal to his current deal Hull could have got a transfer payment for him.
