| Very worrying news about Saints losses, they own their own stadium and have gone all the way to the finals in most years.
I give this league 5 years before it goes part time or worse. SKY have already managed to get more content for free they won't give us anything back.

In the Humberside interview he I’m sure he said that he believes that Hull and Leeds are the two clubs that ‘could’ be self sufficient.
Obviously we haven’t been self sufficient since 2020 at least maybe longer but it was with the caveat that we would need a team performing well on the pitch and getting 13-15K crowds. We are a million miles away off being self sufficient at the moment.

| Quote: Sebasteeno "I'm starting to wonder if Myler is deliberately keeping communications from the club to a minimum so that when it's taken over it'll almost be a like a new dawn for the club where a total reset will occur in all aspects of the way the club operates which will clearly show the difference between the old and new regimes - or that's what I'm hoping. I say that because there is no way the club could be so appalling on the field, off the field and in every other way imaginable'"
I think the lack of communication is just because they obviously can’t discuss anything about the investment until it’s finalised. Like I said on the shopping list thread, I don’t think it will be a total reset because I don’t think it will be a takeover I doubt we’ll have a complete new ownership. In the interviews he’s made I don’t get the impression AP is going.
A ‘capital injection’ is how AP described it, in exchange for what I have no idea. A few years ago I’d have been skeptical of something like that, but it really is do or die for the club now we need something even it is a roll of the dice. As others have said, well performing clubs can’t balance the books in this climate, we have no chance unless something changes.

If AP told me that the grass outside was green i'd go out and check with the way things are at the moment.

| It was interesting to read in that article about Saints finances that McManus said he was expecting losses to be higher this/next year due to paying back the covid loans.
If that is the case and they haven't even started paying them back yet then I assume AP has just gone all out to clear them as fast as possible.

Could just be that Saints have paid them off or at least started to pay them this year but won’t appear on the figures until next year? It was said that we aimed to have ours paid off by early 24 but nothing has ever been mentioned since.
Interesting McManus he’s also said that Saints won’t stop spending to the max of the salary cap as it’s a false economy otherwise. They obviously don’t want to risk losing income and supporters for good. If we had any clarity on our financial situation we could at least see if the gamble has paid off for us in cutting back spending on staff/players but we don’t know, for all we know we might not have got any further then Saints in paying them off.

I assume the COVID loan hasn't been paid off because surely Pearson would have announced that to add a bit of cheer 'debts have gone, spending can go back to levels the fans expect'
Eagerly awaiting the season pass brochure to see what crumbs he wants to feed us this time...

| With two games still to go, this really wasn't the time to open up like this. If another two defeats weren't already certain, they are now. Season ticket holder or not, I won't be attending this week. The club has so much to do to win back the trust and confidence of the fans. Even some of the die hards.

| I think I'm probably in a minority on here but I don't have a problem with it.
He's got a point, he's not ready to be a SL head coach and he's been asked to head up the worst side in the league along with all our basket case goings on. If experienced coaches couldn't get a tune out of this lot then why would he be able to?

It's the lack of accountability for me. Most people understand we're lacking in quality, but we still look poorly coached, that's on him.
Also he's gone from throwing his hat in the ring to "nowt to do with me" in about 4 months.
If I was Cartwright I'd be mortified reading that

I think, on balance, he deserves a bit of slack in the circumstances.
Alternatively if he didn’t think he was up to the job but still took it on, then it is hard to sympathise, as he knew, or should have known, the full extent of the situation the club are in.

I admire his honesty in a way, but it further backs up something I already felt, that he doesn't have the leadership skills to be a coach at this level. I know he's been dealt an awful hand, but you get on with it, you use it to galvanise the players you have and get the best out of them. He just looks for excuses and feels sorry for himself, of course that is going to rub off on the playing group.

| Being an interim coach for most of a season under an inexperienced DOR, is a really tough gig. I remember James Webster trying to explain tactfully how little authority he had under Jamie Peacock, while not being disloyal to the club. In some ways you’re the fall guy.
Pearson will probably not want to front up to the press if he’s no longer going to be calling the shots. Myler will want to wait until his group definitely are, and avoid being tainted by this season as much as possible… if he’d wanted to be immediately answerable for team performances, he’d have taken the head coach role himself. Part of the attraction of that type of DOR role is being above all that, and his family are presumably paying for that privilege at least.
